Stolen g37s wheels in Atlanta (Perimeter area)
Stolen g37s wheels in Atlanta (Perimeter area)
First time poster, long time lurker and it makes me sad that this is my first post. I decided on posting because I REALLY need advice from Atlanta area g37 owners in order to make sure this gets taken cared of correctly.
Apparently (based on the neighbors) on Monday night all the wheels were stolen from my 2008 g37s along with a Honda Civic (I guess it was used to transport the wheels). I was told that a g37 sedan on the 4th floor also had all its wheels stolen too. I haven't seen the evidence of that and some believe that same person is responsible for the theft of my wheels because the person had only three wheels for months. I live in a 'gated' apartments complex that has a 4 level parking deck. They were stock wheels with less than a year old, all season, barely used Potenzas. I always park in the same spot in the garage and did not have to use my car this week. So you can imagine my shock when I walked out today around 4:30pm to see my car sans wheels with the front driver on the floor, front passenger on a wooden block, back driver on a wooden block and rear passenger in the air. There are no cameras in the parking garage. The neighbors suspect it was an inside job; someone living here let the theirs into the garage and has been scoping the place out. My car had a police card attached to it with a case number, officer name and badge number. A neighbor saw me and proceeded to tell me that this happened on Monday night along with the person living next to him having their car stolen.
The leasing office did not notify the community of the crimes (does not surprise me because they are idiots) so I had no idea of what transpired over the last week. They plan on doing it Monday, a whole week after the crimes have happened and only after I went in there and made a stink. No tow truck will touch my car because of how it is 'perched' and an adjuster cannot come and look at it until Monday (I have no idea of time). According to the towing department, wheels & tires will have to be purchased, placed on the car and then the car will be towed to the collision shop.
I have Geico and full coverage and they have referred me to a collision company they work with that place a lifetime guarantee on their work. Classic Collision in Sandy Springs on Roswell Road. It sucks that I have to pay a deductible but at least I have full comprehensive coverage. My biggest worry right now is making sure that the right, correct and fair parts are bought and placed on the car. The first claims agaent I spoke to said that because they cannot get the car out of the garage, I could go buy all the tires, wheels, etc, put it on the car and then have the car towed to the shop. Then they will reimburse me. I am against that idea because I have no means of getting tires delivered to an apartment complex and installing them myself. I am a single female who only knows other single females and I do not trust myself to attempt to do this on my own. I am not touching the car and I'm not going to let anyone else do for fear of damaging it worse and that not being covered. I will have to wait till Monday until an adjuster can come out and look at the vehicle.
I am having a hard time processing all of this. If anyone in the Atlanta area thinks I should have it towed to a recommended body shop for body work etc., please let me know. If anyone can offer some advice on how to deal with the insurance company, adjuster, collision center, that would be great.

Wow first I must say I am sorry to hear that. Its shame what people will do, I to had a disturbing knock at 6am by a nieghbor to alert my aftermarket wheels where stolen, the thieves just left my car nose first and rear end sky high up in the air. It turns your stomach. Well first things first. You have to get the car mobile. The cheapest way would be to borrow a set of same off-set steelies. "5x114" important number that the car accepts wheels of that bore. You have one steelie or reserve tire, start calling friends to see if they can lend you theirs so you can call a tow truck. Also look on craigslist for older used g35/350z wheels they can be had for cheap sometimes under 100 bucks with tires. Best of Luck to you!

Sorry to hear about this. What apartment complex did this happen at? This happened more times than I can count at an apartment complex I lived at 3-4 years ago near Clairmont.
Did you have wheel locks? Just curious. I know thieves can get around that, but wondering if that is still a deterrent.
Classic Collision is good. I've used their shop on Peachtree Industrial for bodywork on my old 350z and old 300zx.

The wheels did have locks but if someone wants something, they will get it. I live walking distance from Perimeter Mall.
Just found out that a g37 on the 4th floor had all their tires stolen also. An adjuster cannot come out till this evening so any damage occurring is probably going to get worse. Additionally, I think I found my tires on Craigslist. It seems like an eerie coincidence. I plan to speak to the DT again today so I'll pass along this info.

I finally got my car back tonight! It took over a week from the day I reported it to get the wheels, tires, and lug nuts in. So it was almost 2 weeks that my car was sitting in that horrible state. The parts were back ordered hence the delay. Once in, a tow truck came, put the wheels on and took it to the collision shop. Delays with the wheel locks and the center piece led to me having to wait a bit longer. The collision shop said there was no damage to the car; the thieves knew what they were doing. It was over $6000 in total. Car drives great. Currently parked (on a different floor) and hopefully it will be there in the morning. My neighborhood is packed with luxury cars including a ton of g's, so I can't feel like 'why me???'
Also the wheels on CL were a different size. I hope it was worth it to the jackass who inconvenienced me, cost me a deductible and maybe a couple thousands of dollars in fees if I decide to break my lease.

So wait
Are you saying that wheel locks do Not work
or
That some wheel locks are better then others
(if so What's the BEST wheel locks)
Of course I know Nothing is theft proof but looking for the best rated. Thanks
