Hey guys Im making the trip up there with 3 cars including my G. My G is almost at 14900 miles. I Just put on brand new vredestien on my 20s for about 500 miles. I change my oil every 3k miles with royal purple except for at 12k but I didn't change the filter. My question is, What should I check before leaving? Do I need a oil change before leaving. Do I need any special maintenance at 15k. Also im driving at night following the other two cars so I can hit as less bug as possible but I was wondering if I could drive with masking tape on my car for 4 hours?

I scouted areas yesterday. Picnic Lane is a good place that has lots of small parking areas and almost all of them were empty yesterday afternoon. At about 5 PM most of the parking areas there were well shaded.

get a bunch of blue painter's tape... they sell it at home depot/lowes... its very friendly to your car's paint and shouldnt leave residue. get a few of the widest rolls and a couple thinner rolls for small detail areas. and just because you'll hit less bugs, you might pick up more road debris following two cars.. rocks, tire bits, etc.

parts of the tape will likely come loose at speed, but probably not fall off... just re-do it after two hours at a gas station... you'll need to stretch anyway.

and hold up.... you put 8$/qt oil in your car and didnt change the $5 oil filter?

LOL I couldn't get the filter off this one time and the filter was stripped so I couldn't use a socket wrench like I usually do. I was just like man whatever so I just pour the oil in.

J... I would go the painters tape route just to be safe.... its not really the bugs its the 18-wheelers on I-10 tossing debris everywhere.... but painters tape should help a lot!

Huge Fireworks always on/near Allen Parkway which will not be far from us.... There is always rouge fireworks all over town.... I think even at the Galleria which is < 1 mile from me. J here is a google map link to the spot we are going to be meeting.... Otherwise I'm sure either I or Jeremy can meet you somewheres...

For you its going to be I-10 West to 610 South and then exit Memorial or Wooday as they will eventually merge into one. Turn Left and head East until you get to Picnic.
