Wheels and Tires in Classifieds

So this may just apply to me but has anyone else looking for a good set of wheels noticed guys selling their setup for like new prices? I normally don't complain about this kinda thing but every set I see in the classified area when I compare them to new wheel and tire set prices there is barely a few hundred dollar difference between new and used for the exact same stuff. Before you throw out the tmps thing I factored that in lol. With our 114.3 x 5 /4.5 x 5 being so common I assumed there would be some competition among sellers. Sorry...stepping off the soapbox now... preparing for the flaming...

Prices around here vary quite a bit, can't blame the sellers for trying to get as much as they can. Usually prices settle to a point where you can save enough to make it worthwhile. Coupe 19s w/ tires have been seen for as low as $600 which is a good deal. Also you'll notice some wheel sets stay on the site for a couple months w/out much response, especially if the seller is too firm on the price. If you're patient you can usually find a good deal if you don't need something today.

Thanks man for your reply. I had looked at a set of 20" vossens and decided to check the Vossen website and found the set actually cheaper with new tires. I assume they were more expensive when they were first introduced ya know? I guess I'm just suggesting the sellers research the current new price before posting lol! You're right though I'm not in a hurry as the tires I have on my 17" stock rims are brand new. I just can't help but dream!

There's also no shortage of folks that are unrealistic w/ pricing, that's one of the great reasons to go back a few pages in the FS threads to get an idea of what certain parts actually sell for. Some items really don't depreciate much, like the highest quality wheels such as Volks, Works, I Forged, etc.

Vossens are one of the most popular wheels around here so don't expect to find a steal on them, they're cast wheels so not in the quality of the above mentioned wheels but command a premium since they're so popular and have a progressive look.

Every once in a while you can find a steal on something everyone wants but have to be in the right place at the right time.

Good Luck

You've always got the option to completely ignore any sellers asking unreasonably high prices for used parts. If you like something being sold but think ti's too expensive, you can also PM the seller (not post in their thread) and politely make an offer to buy them. You might be surprised how often they'll accept a reasonable offer or perhaps counter offer and meet you somewhere in the middle.

I've been on both sides of that as a buyer and a seller and it's usually a pretty easy thing to work out. I've often gotten a seller to agree to less than their asking price so long as my offer was reasonable. Or I've sold an item for less than I asked if their offer is reasonable.

The price someone charges for anything and can get reflects the market. If they price is too high for all buyers, they'll lower it or the item won't sell. If there's a buyer willing to pay what they're asking, then it's not overpriced.

You can also check the classifieds on G35driver.com
With your X you have to be careful w/ tire sizing but you can run staggered setups if you do your homework. If you have specific questions post in this folder~

You have to keep in mind that people tend to list price higher than normal because they know people will normally negotiate/offer a lower price.

I sent an offer to this guy. I was curious how he was running 285/35/19 tires in the rear. aren't the rims 19 x 8.5 front and 19 x 9.5 rear?

It's just you. You seem a bit worked up about this. Have one of these .

Vendors post up whatever promotional photos they have of their wheels on any car that they look good on. It might be a BMW, or a Lexus, or a Ferrari, or a Corvette, or whatever. Not a lot of companies take photos for advertising with every single make and model that the wheels will be used on. Feel free to use your imagination and picture them on a G37 in your head.

It didn't. You're just expressing your feelings, that's cool.

I'm running 295s on my 10" rims and it's a good fitment, would be equivalent to running 285s on a 9.5 Good luck on those rims, would be a nice look for your sedan

I have come across this everywhere involving people selling their goods.

I belong to other forums/sites where people sell their stuff.

Specifically a snowboarding forum.

I see people all the time selling their used gear for prices near what I can find it for brand new. Sometimes even more than new.

But, I don't call them out on it. I figure it is none of my business and if some sucker wants to over pay, then that is their fault. If someone is too lazy to do their research and home work, then why should I do it for them.

It's capitalism.
