I have seen someones premium album have large images. Can this be done now with new site make over?

If not images should be at least 1024X768 large.

I'm upset I paid for membership to archive my car info and photos and find out my photos are very small and are optimized way to much leaving JPG artifacts all over the images. I'm quite sure we all here can agree they are to small.

If you do not know how to I can do it or hack it any way you like!
Just shout PM me if any help needed. Wont cost any money.

If its done already, let me know so I can redo my gallery!

Try uploading a new pic to your album now and let me know if that looks any better.

^ Must be better than before eh? For some reason, Premier members had their album pics set to 600 X 600. Let me know if you need anything else.

The only thing is this... If you upload your image at 1024 width or greater with a file size greater than 293KB it will optimize your image and it will look bad of course since its not a good optimizer.

So here is a trick for a great picture. (Photoshop is needed)
1)Re size your photo to about 900 width.
2) "Save for Web" and use the JPG optimization of 75%. - This should get you below the file size of 293KB and will not allow for the sites optimizer to touch it.

Now if you can turn the optimizer off and limit file size still this would be better for those without Photoshop.

Anyways take a look at the 2 duplicate(unframed) pics in my album to see the quality in picture difference. Mouse-over the pic to see image file name. "1" is optimized by the site. The other(1x) isn't since I did the trick mentioned above.

Yet... we still can't get a fix on the "Random" photo gallery.

The random photo gallery pics at the top of the home page are not "random" I see the same 10-15 sets of pics every time.

See man we been cheated of large pictures and no random showing of our cars to the public!!!!!!!! LOL!! Seriously though...

I did notice that I always seen the same cars but never see my car or at least other friends cars on the forum. We definitely need this fixed as well.

I think 180 and I are worth a free membership next year or at least 50% off lol!

 

The way the photo gallery at the top of the forum is setup is that it randomly pulls 5 photos from member's photo albums. The more members that have pictures uploaded to their photo album the greater variety of photos you'll see show in the gallery at the top of the forum. The only other way to configure the photo gallery is to pull from the latest pictures uploaded, as opposed to random randomly from member's albums.

 

I think/know that next year I wont be renewing by membership. Its a scam and all we get is an avatar which is free on other forums ie the370z.com

This is what you get when you have corporation running your forum not a true enthusiast. Its a shame

 

FYI, g35driver, my350z, and myg37 never had avatar for all members, even before IB came and took over.


I agree about the random picture thing, i never see mine, igors, or any pics of any of my friends.

 

Yeah man If I had known from day 1 this was like this I wouldn't of paid. I only paid so I could archive photos of my car with info about it here and we see that there is some issues.

Lets try and fix this please. Also if you have fixed the image size for all Premium Members please send out an administration email or post in Main letting the G community know this since this is a big update.

 

Hey Garnet did you fix the Random photos?... Looks like you did, I had seen soolman32s car and others for first time! If so you are da man. I would let premium members know since I belie It will re-energize the forum especially since we have larger photos to view. Just announce it as an upgrade for image size and fix for random photos.

 

The random photos is not really fixed. I keep seeing the same cars get a lot of exposure. Yes there is more than 15 now but that random script sucks A$$!

With all the money made from Premium Membership you guys need to fix this ASAP. Also you need to program it like so:

1)The Premium Member has a album called "myGpics" by default for all premium members.

2)Images paced in this folder are only displayed on the home page randomly.

3)Any other albums created will not show those pics.
*Moderators need to enforce images shown from that folder is a of the G37.* You'll need to hack the vBulletin to have this and add the field to mySQL database.

This is like paying for web hosting and having your site work half the time!
Please Fix ASAP or I will to not pay for next years membership.

4) Albums without photos will not be shown. Write a custom if else statement for that. Just noticed an album getting exposure with no photos!
