Lightbulb If they won't RTFM at home, why not post it here?

Every day there are questions asked that are easily answered by the Owner's Manual. Personally I'm shocked that so many folks have ADD to the point where they will purchase and operate a $40K+ car without even cracking open the owner's manual. I have found myself wanting to post a "RTFM" type question from time to time when I'm not near my car or on my computer at home where I have it in PDF format. Which gave me an idea...

Can we post a reference sticky here with the Owner's, Navigation, and Factory Service Manuals; along with the Towing Guide, Service and Maintenance Guide, and Quick Reference Guide here on the forum? I have them all in PDF format but don't have resources to host them anywhere. I'm sure someone does.

What about it?

I get different rental cars every week. I don't feel it is necessary to read a book to operate a car. Have you tried to navigate through the 4-6 manuals that were handed to you when you bought the car. I still haven't gotten through all the reading material. Besides, manuals can't be searched like forum threads. So go ahead and post em up.

What the hell does a rental car have to do with anything on a G37 forum???

Yes, I did read all the manuals. Call me a geek, but I don't have to ask assanine questions like, "What size is my spare?" etc. Manuals CAN be searched (very easily too), if you'd read it you would know. The Factory Service Manual is not for reading but for reference as it can answer every technical question you may possibly have about the G37 Coupe. If it's good enough for the techs working on my car, it's good enough for me.

I operate $40K rental cars every week. I don't need to read a manual to do so.

Read your own quotes sir. Don't be so harsh on the boards. If you don't want to deal with the RTFM threads then don't click on them. Jeez man did someone crap in your cheerios.

Besides, if it hasn't been answered before then its ok, but if it's a "use the search" type of repetitive question, then that's a different story. Often times I'm not in front of my manual to look up questions I have. So I come here and use the search to find the answer. Some things aren't in the manual like the ECU reset.

If you want to add the manuals and feature how too's, by all means please do so. I think you got the mods approval if you host it up somewhere.

There's no point in anyone who can't see the value of reading their owner's manual so I wont even try anymore. I'm stupid for even thinking that someone disinclined to do so would see the value in it because of reading a post on a forum. No need to on that anymore.

At least it's posted now for those who will get some value from it. Thanks CrazyRuskie!

Can anyone host the Factory Service manual so it can be linked? That is an amazing tool that will answer just about any question about anything you could possibly be doing to your car.

^^^ Agreed. I learned so much reading it.

I have it, but it's crazy huge, like 80MB. I think I posted a link to it before somewhere...

Never mind, I think I found it.
