Dumping on members' F/S threads

Here's my opinions on For Sale threads here on the forum.

I've seen a number of negative posts posted in members' for sale threads in the marketplace forum. Why? IMO this should be a big no-no.

BUYERS: When you read a F/S thread, if you have interest in the item being sold, it's perfectly appropriate to respond to the thread with interest, questions, or to PM the seller. However, if you have no interest, there is absolutely no reason to post unless it's to give a bump for a good seller. Not every 15 minutes either, but at appropriate times. It is NOT appropriate to post anything negative about the item, the seller, or his/her asking price. It's rude, provocative and serves no purpose. If you have interest and feel the asking price is too high, PM the seller and make an offer or move on. If the F/S thread says the price is firm, move on or wait until the seller disocvers his price is unreasonable and lowers it.

SELLERS: Sellers should always post a definite asking price and shipping cost in their thread and the location of the item so that terms are clear to potential buyers. If possible plesae provide plenty of good pictures when posting something for sale becasue you know damn well that is going to be the first thing people ask for. Sellers should disclose any defects, damage, amount of use, or other pertinent information about the item in the interest of fairness. Sellers should keep in mind that "lowball' offers are subjective and not get upset when someone offers much lower than they wish to sell at. They can accept, decline, or make a counter offer.

Just my opinions.

yess!! +1 on that

That happened to me when i was trying to sell something, my item sold and when i came back to update that it was sold, i saw either the poster or a mod remoived his post! =)

It involved the price and falls under what you describe as "It is NOT appropriate to post anything negative about the item, the seller, or his/her asking price."

Good post.... so now where are my grounding wires btw? LOL... lemme know if u shipped em yet. =p

I agree although I may have violated this a couple times......sorry.

On the grounding wire note, similar question. When do the KP modules ship?

The seller really needs to report these posts if they are that bad. Sorry but we don't get to always look at all the posts. When I see these posts I just make sure they are in the right section and named accordingly. If they are not then I change them. The rest of the post I usually don't have time to read or care to read to be honest. If it is bad then report it. I know you have done this in the past Black Betty so thanks.

I know that mods won't see everything immediately, but it's really up to us as members to respect each other and not have to rely on mods to police it so much. Just a matter of courtesy and respect for others.

I'll send PM's regarding shipping issues.

Yea I agree with BBoy... and Betty you have reported tons of posts so I think we get most of them handled....

but i think there is a difference is DUMPING in a FS thread and Helping out members.... for example... If someone is posting something for a UNGODLY price trying to take advantage of maybe a member that doesnt know any better... or the Seller Lying about something or giving false info just to make there item look more appealing or better than it actually is....

I think we do a great job at policing the FS adds here...

I know we delete those pesky Cell phone salesman's threads ASAP BANHAMMER!

but ... continue to report if u see a problem.

I completely agree BB. Nothing irks me any more than seeing a member's classified ad crapped on by some moron that's not even interested it. Stuff like this will not be tolerated, so if any members see this happening in the Marketplace please send myself (or any other Staff member) a PM.
