Those look like they'd pass the visual test in CA, Almost identical to the OEM cats.

Why are they so inexpensive?

I understand, but I am in an industry where I see sand turned into chips and products designed, built and then sold on the shelves of retailers we all know and love; almost everything you touch is likely made in China. Their tooling and manufacturing across machinery, textiles, electronics, etc. is world class. But yes, they create alot of janky knock offs as well since there is little control of intellectual property and the people making that crap see themselves as entrepreneurs, not thieves.

With that said, China owns the rare earth materials market (stuff that cats are made of) and produces more engineers in a year than we produce college grads, so why can't they just make a CARB compliant performance CAT and certify it for CA (40M+ people, good SAM)?

Of course I know the answer, but cannot explain here since the discussion will get political quick.

Appears that this discussion may be moot soon and we will have a chance to revert back to 1960s CA where we became victims of our geography and innocence: https://www.politico.com/live-update...evoke-00397892

Population 16M in 1960, Population 39M in 2021
