Guys, I'm the one who agreed to buy this kit from woofersus. He graciously agreed to humor my budget and close our transaction in January.

This kit from woofersus is going to be a birthday present from my wife.

Interesting question - I know you need the cable, then the license, then the tune.

Can the cable be used on multiple cars, or just one at a time? I know the license is probably vin-specific.

My evolving understanding of these components is that you can use the same Key & Cable on multiple cars, but each license is associated with the cable *and* the car. In other words, if you and a few friends bought the Pro ECU Kit together, you could all use the kit, but would have to register an individual license for each combination of Kit & Car. I based that on what I was told by a local racing team some years ago, who were offering a dyno-tune service for $750 on the assumption that they owned the EcuTek ProECU Kit. So if I needed a re-tune, I'd have to go back to them and hope they still had the cable on hand.

If someone wants to confirm or correct... I'm not proud, LOL. Unfortunately for me, that local shop discontinued tunes.

FWIW, here's the license-only retail page for ViscontiTuning: https://www.viscontituning.com/produ...=9533306077236

By the way, John Visconti emailed me confirmation that the $350 EcuTek license for the 370Z is the same for the G37... in case anyone follows that link and wonders why the G isn't listed.

Yes, I think that's basically correct. The net effect is that you can resell or buy a used cable for permanent ownership, but not effectively share it amongst a bunch of people, and each car needs its own license. The G37 and 370z (and early Q50's with the VQ370VHR engine too) all basically have the same tune and pricing. And of course depending on the tuner there is some extra cost for a custom tune, whether in-person on a dyno or remotely with logfiles sent back and forth. Various mods can all be accounted for in the process, but if you have forced induction there will be an extra charge.

Also, my cable is now officially sold. I imagine you will eventually see details in Rochester's build thread
