Budget Building!

I have had some inspiration for this post mostly by looking at other build threads, however where it'll be different for me is I am a 22 year old college senior with *some* disposable income and I will be doing what I can while on a budget! Unfortunately this will most likely be a somewhat lengthy build!

I hope that I am able to help even one person out on the site, and for those that subscribe..enjoy!!

I got my car in June of 2016 and it is a black 2008 G35 Sedan with 100,000K miles on it. My previous vehicle was a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 that was essentially straight piped so this is the first car that I will be able to actually have some fun with.

Here is what I am planning on doing:

Body:
Font/tail light tint (will most likely use 3M vinyl to do so)
15% tint on windows (already tinted, not sure what)
Yellow caliper covers OR painted calipers

Motor:
R2C intakes

Wheels:
Plasti dipped black [x]
Autodip vinyl spray (considering being the test mule)
Sand and paint gloss black

Suspension:
Swift springs
20mm spacers

Exhaust:
Tanabe Medalion [x]
12 inch vibrant resonators [X]
Kinetix HFC [x]

*I will be looking at the private classifieds as well and if there is a part cheaper there I'll most likely get that.*

Nice plans Jabba, look forward to your progress, but if you put yellow caliper covers on your G I'm afraid I may have to delete your build thread

oh no! Well since it is a "budget build" the budget thing would be to paint them... the only reason I was considering the covers is because I have the small brakes and not the akebonos

Well I was kinda joking (but not really). The best thing to do with small base brakes is paint them a color that blends such as gray or black, and possibly put a small Infiniti logo sticker on them. You really don't want to bring attention to the base brakes by painting them a loud, bright color. And putting caliper covers on them will make the situation 10x worse, now you'd be trying to make people think you have big brakes, but any true car guy (or gal) will sniff those out immediately and then they'd be laughing at your car. Your G is coming along nicely Jabba, I know you'll keep it that way

Is the autodip vinyl spray you're talking about autoflex? I just got mine done and it looks so good...

I don't believe so.. its literally called autodip! Supposedly a "spray on vinyl" but it will give you a gloss black instead of a matte black.

Autodip USA - The world's first sprayable vinyl wrap

Thats the link to their website.

"update 1":

I put it in air quotes because I had done it before I created this thread, but here is what she looks like with plasti dipped wheels.

It does change the appearance of the car quite a bit, however after doing it I want to change it to gloss black.

I'd also go with gloss black window trim, it's an easy $25 DIY and really transforms the look. https://www.myg37.com/forums/d-i-y-i...-g-sedans.html

"Update 2"

I say it in quotes again because it is something I already had done before I decided to make this thread. I installed a Tanabe Medalion about a month ago, had it shipped from autohance.com for $523. Install took about 20 minutes (I wrote a small review on it). I did have an alignment issue where the left muffler hung about 1/4 of an inch lower than the other one but after bending the hangar it fixed it almost immediately. These pictures are after a 750 mile road trip from Chicago down to school in Oklahoma.

The exhaust looks phenomenal in person when it is polished up, and it did get louder after a "break in period" but it isn't loud enough for me, so next will be 12 inch vibrant resonators!

Update 3!

The vibrant resonators I ordered are being installed as I type this. I ordered 2 12 inch vibrant resonators part 1790 from summit racing paying about 98.00 for the pair. I have to commend them, I didn't pay for expedited shipping but they were on my doorstep less than 24 hours after I ordered them.

Here are some pictures of them upon arrival! I have kinetix HFCs on the way as well, and I will put up videos of the car with the Tanabe and the Resonators, and when I install the HFCs with the resonators and the Tanabe.

I will write a review of them once I get my car back!

Looking forward to hearing clips of the Vibrants + Tanabe. I've been itching to get the Vibrants added but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I'll put up some sound clips today, but I can tell you right now that you should do it. Total cost (including parts) was 180, and it sounds perfect. Gives it a deeper growl, but really accentuates the VQ note we all know and love. I have only gotten it up to 75 since install but there is zero rasp.
