I have an 11 G37x sedan and I can't seem to find jack stand marker points. On my Saab 9-3 they are clearly marked on the lower running boards by the tires. Now I do see a spot where IF I had some rubber mounts I could place them and then use the stands, but I bought the car used and don't have these mounts. I just have jack stands from Harbor Freight.

Last time I used the tie rod joint area as points, but my plan is to have the car jacked up on the stands for a week, so I want to be sure it has a secure wide base. Also I live in Atlanta so I do not expect an earth quake.

Middle of the pinch welds. Hardest part is getting the jack under one of the pinch weld points all while while trying to fit a jack stand next to it. If you jack the car high enough though you can get a stand under the frame as well. Note, this i jsut fro the front.

The rear is easy peasy though as all you have to do is jack from the diff and put your stands under the rear pinch welds.

 

I've been researching this myself as I don't like the idea of putting the pinch weld on a jack stand...at least not without something on the jack stand to prevent the pinch weld from deforming.

 

I've deformed the chit out of mine but you can always do the hockey puck method if your concerned.

I fold up old hand towels into the jackstand V. My pinch welds are holding up pretty good.

I've seen rubber caps that fit on top of jack stands.

 

Not for a Jack stand, maybe the Jack.
The hockey puck wouldn't be stable on top of a Jack stand unless you modified the bottom.
Harbor freight sells Jack stands covers, but they seem to only fit 3 and 6 ton Pittsburgh Jack stands.
I returned them as they didn't fit on my 2 ton Torin stands from Northern Tool.

I've sine also returned this Jack stands (unused), and am in the market for 2 sets. I just started my research yesterday. I'd rather not get the Pittsburgh stands, but we'll see. I really liked the extra locking pin on the Torin stands.

 

There is a solid piece of metal just behind the pinch weld where the factory jack comes into contact with the car. I place my jack stands under that piece of metal, just inside the pinch weld. The pinch weld is not used in any way.

I liked the idea of the hockey puck, but it I never understood how the hockey puck sits on my jack stands.

I am looking into working with wood to hollow out the back so it fits on the stands. I think I'll need a 4x4 in order to have enough depth to work with.

I'm also considering building a wooden (cage) Jack stand...one that will support the car by the tires or the pinch weld.

 

I have 4 2x12s bolted together that I use as a second set of ramps to lift the front and rear at the same time. I can also put ramps on top of them to get one end even higher.

I sometimes put the jackstands under the frame so no problem there.

 

This has no chance to work as I am removing the tires, that's the whole point to jacking the car up on all 4 points. The hockey puck idea while nice has no chance of success with my jacks. As stated already you can't use the pinch weld itself with my jack stands, nor would I ever want to use a pinch weld.

I also tried just inside the pinch weld, if I recall, maybe we are talking different locations, but it started to buckle and I believe part of the plastic running board bottom is that area. I can go look again and post a picture.

 

I jack the car up with the front jack point and rear diff. And place the jack stands around the pinch welds with a plastic cover over the stands I got from harbor freight. Without the plastic covers I have damaged the rocket panels :/
