This is a supplement to Doug's write-up because I am lazy and don't want to include the details . Pics should speak for themselves.....

Materials:
18-20 gauge filament-core (soft-core?) wires (I used solid-core, it works too but just harder to deal with)


LEDs specified in Doug's DIY write-up


Potentiometer


Switch


Tools:
Screw driver
Drill
Wire stripper
Soldering iron+solder


First grab the center console that surrounds the shifter at the rear most part and pull upward towards the ceiling:




Exposed (if you want to change the ****...)




Disconnect the power


Go back in the house and make one of these


No, I mean one of these


You might want to measure the length of the wire before you cut it, but give yourself some slack so it's easier to install.

Take the whole thing that you've just made back out to the car but BE CAREFUL that the solder joints on the LEDs are not tugging in different directions because it might tear

Instead of soldering to the yellow cigarette trim light wire for power, I just stripped away a section of it and wrapped my solid-core wire around it then taped it up with electrical tape. (for a less-permanent set-up)


Feed the passenger side LEDs through the center


Feed everything else (driver side LED, potentiometer, switch) to the left side


Drill your holes for the potentiometer and switch mounting locations then secure them. Mount the LEDs and connect the grounds.

those led's have built in resistors to take on the full 12 volts ?

 

The LEDs are on a strip, which has resistors.

so these lights only come on when the car is on and u have the switch 'ON"?

or do they come on when you open the door? like the accent lights

 

They come on with the headlights. They are hard to see in the day, and it looks great while driving... that is why it is not hooked up to the door.

The switch in the circuit layout is only to switch between blue or white LEDs.
