Ouch.... That's painful considering I paid half that. Did you have someone do the removal and install for you?

that must include installation. However, Im interested to learn how you keep your cost in the $500 mark Cornor.
I did my conversion awhile ago for $800
$300 for sport bumper
$80 for side vents
$100 middle vent
$300 paint

Sport bumper from Pepe Infiniti eBay store for $220 using Best Offer, all vents for ~$150 using coupon codes for Infiniti of Tyson's Corner (usually available year round) and ~$200 for paint. I know I did NOT cross the $600 mark. I think I was at $580 for total costs. I did the the removal of journey bumper and installation of sport bumper.

A flathead screwdriver to pop the pinch clips on the top of the bumper, and a 10mm 1/4" socket with ratchet. An extra pair of hands is nice especially when installing the bumper as the ends can swing up and and scratch your fender.

I've installed many bumpers and I started using painters tape on the fenders to prevent scratching.
