Custom VQ35HR Intake setup. (Motordyne M370)

Some of you might better recognize this as the Motordyne M370 intake. If you don’t know what you’re looking at or are interested in learning more, I suggest searching this site or google for “motordyne M370.” The M370 is just a used VQ35HR upper intake manifold where holes have been cut and enlarged so it can be fitted on a VQ37VHR. It uses a large plate to clamp down the upper manifold to the lower manifold and the holes are cut in such a way that one is very close to jeopardizing structural integrity. I personally don’t like that setup and my dad agreed with me. We prefer clamping down using the stock pressure points so we know the gasket between the two is happily doing its job.

What we did was buy a used VQ35HR upper intake manifold and a used VQ37VHR lower manifold. We then went and got some threaded rod (not easy finding the right threaded rod in metric sizes by the way) and the correct nuts. We enlarged a couple holes on the VQ35HR where it was safe to do so and then drilled and tapped the VQ37VHR lower manifold where the VQ35HR original holes lined up. The threaded rods act like studs which is a better way of clamping down as opposed to long bolts (think of ARP fasteners). Then we made some offset washers to align the holes and studs so that flared nuts could be used to hold everything together. With this combination, the stock engine cover can be used and so can a strut tower brace. There is a 12 horsepower and a 12 foot pounds of torque increase with this mod in the mid-range documented by many places.

This requires the lower manifold to be switched out as well but that’s only another 8 more bolts. I never finished this project so some hoses and a hose-t would need to be sourced (easy to find at any auto store and cheap). The reason I never got around to finishing this is because I purchased another vehicle and I’ve spent all my time and energy on that.

What you see here is what you get.

The top of the manifold is flat with no studs or nuts sticking up over the top profile.

This is an extra engine cover (yet another project I was working on). It shows the holes line up and the stock engine cover can be used.

I want $450 plus shipping and paypal fees. I am firm on this price.
For a shipping estimate: It will be from 68116. The package is 32" x 18" x 7" and weighs about 18 pounds.

Is the lower manifold from a 370 or a 350? If it's from a 370 may be interested!
