Rochester's 2022 Photos
Some years ago here on the forum, back when I was organizing forum meet-ups, I met a forum member that I really clicked with, and we became remote friends. Roger ( ShuuraRG ) had a nicely modified G37X Sedan. A few years later, he traded that in for a Nismo Z. And then last fall he sold that for a Jaguar F-Type R. After he bought the F-Type (my personal halo car, goddammit), we made long plans to meet up in the Spring of 2022. It took some planning, because he lives in Columbus, OH and I live in Rochester, NY. So looking at the map, we decided to meet in Meadville PA.
Naturally we took lots of pictures. And we even tried to take some videos. Out of the hundreds of photos, I collected and organized the ones posted here. As for the videos, well, they're pretty amateur, but I slapped some together and will post them here as well. My G is 11 years old now, and coincidentally for this trip, it just tripped over 50,000 miles. Roger's Jag is newer, and there's no getting around the obvious... it's a freaking monster, in both design and power. Driving his Jag was an amazing experience.
So here are the pics, starting with my car.

John and I had a blast!! Good friends, food, conversation, location, pics, and cars!
John's G is immaculate!! Love the Vossen's, every aspect of the exhaust (love the VQ sound), the detail in the engine bay, the shifter, tuning, and overall experience! I ran Fast Intentions CBE on both my G and Z, and though I loved the exhaust note from each, they didn't reach the quality in sound of John's G. Well done!!

The 4-cyl version of the F-Type Coupe (seriously... a four cylinder) was also auto-only.
Only the V6 came (past tense) with the optional 6MT. There were two versions of the V6... both 3.0L and supercharged. One was tuned to 340hp, and the "S" was tuned to 380hp, and came with a LSD rear end, active suspension, active exhaust, etc.
If my memory is right, 2019 was the last model year for the 6MT in the F-Type Coupe S.

The F-Type Coupe was always my personal "next car" dream. The idea was to get a V6 "S" model with the 6MT, and wait until they could be had used for under $40k, instead of the $90k they cost new. And although we're there today, you can find a 6MT for under $40... it just no longer feels like a practical dream. At least, it's not something I'm going to chase after, no matter how wistful I get.
The moment has past.

The G looks great, everything down to the small details. I think you will have a very hard time parting ways when the day comes.
I can't say the same about the Jag. Between the red lines and silver screws (or whatever they are) on the wheels, it just doesn't do it for me.

As for the Jag's color scheme... Roger knows my thoughts on this, and black is almost never my choice for color on any car. Personally, I'm good with the lower trim red pieces, however I'm not fond of the lipstick around the grille, and think it would look better in piano black. But honestly, the car could be plaid for all it matters, because once you drive it you're transcended to another place where color is way, way down on the list of priorities.
Thanks, Rob. It will be a melancholy day, for sure.

Besides, the red trim pays homage to the Nismo it replaced!
John, I have to ask... given how little you drive your G, why NOT get a 2-door fancypants car next?
As for the V being a widowmaker... well, I've always loved Vipers and 911s, and a 2nd gen Turbo RX7 at about 300ish HP in a 2800 pound car with no driver aids whatsoever is about as skittish... so I kinda miss having a car that wanted badly to kill me LOL.

There's a cruel irony observing elderly men driving a F-Type, knowing first hand how difficult it is to fall in and climb out.
Other than that, a large coupe door would be compromised by my garage, unless I always back it in... and backing that car up isn't easy either.

I don't care if I need a cane or crane if I can wrangle a GT-40 or similar dream car I'll drive the damn thing as long as they'll let me.
Perhaps a tad longer, even.
