Thump....cringe....wow, I think my car is too low

Ok, so you guys that are riding pretty low should know this feeling. You're carefully driving your car through a parking lot and you know you might scrap on the upcoming speed bump, but you say to yourself "I got this". So, you slowly approach the speed bump and you try to angle just right to miss your sub frame/chassis, then you feel the little thump and hear the scrap and then you feel the anxiety of getting through the ordeal without causing more scraping.

It's not the first time that my car has gotten a little thump and scrap, but I can never get used to it. It's like a part of me hurts as well. I've always noticed how low our sub frame/chassis sits and how little ground clearance we have. I always toy with the idea that I'll raise my car up, but I'm too stubborn. Even a friend of mine said to me to man up and quit being a pansy. It's the price you pay for that "look".

What's your guys take on it? Have you ever raised your car up to sacrifice looks over practicality?

Here is how my car sits currently. I've since added the OEM front lip (which doesn't help with the practicality of daily driving).

I totally get what you are talking about. It still makes me cringe every time ! My aero sides and occasionally my exhaust. I'm only about 1.5" all around, you ?

Don't get me started on the exhaust tips! I scrap those damn things too!

I'm currently on Tanabe coilovers and 19" wheels. I'm not sure how much the drop is, but the car is definitely not slammed.

Now, with a front lip, it makes for more interesting driving as I have to angle more out of driveways. When I first put it on, my brother said "yea it looks nice, now go and break it in by scraping the hell out of it".

Niceeee. Makes me want to get coilovers now lol. But I feel sometimes black and white cars get away with extra low cars. Just the body lines aren't that much exposed and makes the overall stance even look better

Wow, your car is slammed! I'm already complaining and you definitely are much lower than I am. Do you notice how low the front engine cradle sits from the ground?

This is the part I am referring to. Check out picture number 10.

Subframe? Lol, don't worry your subframe is not even close to the ground, and our oil pans are really high up too. The main thing that scrapes is your exhaust. Next time you get an oil change, ask if you can go under the car and check it out. You'll see that your flex connectors are scraped to shet and so are your flanges, but nothing else.

Man the car looks great, i too am all for a little sacrifice for "that look". I live in nyc arguably the worst place to drive a dropped car but im gonna be bringing my 37 down to earth on saturday just for the looks so who cares. Just drive slower and be more cautious, my previous cars were all low too so its really just getting back to what i know lol... Im sure silverg37 and other nyc guys can chime in, its really a matter of knowing where you drive and avoiding terrible roads when your that low.

Exactly, its almost like relearning the city over with the safe routes to go for a dropped vehicle.

This is a must. Then you go through unfamiliar territory and become a little weary when you approach the driveway entrance.
