I know this will most definitely not be everyone's cup of tea, though I decided to share this anyway
.
A little back story first:
When I first got my licence, neon under body kits where just hitting the streets and were all the rage. As a teen, I thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread. Unfortunately they where kind of expensive and the tubes always broke making the mod quite unreliable. I didn't have money as a teen and as a result I never did this mod. Then "life" got in the way and modding cars had to take a back seat.
Fast forward 20-something years and modding a car is a possibility once more. I never forgot about those d@mn neon under body kits
. Though the type of car that I'm driving now sorta seems "too nice" to get a lighted under body kit. Well, the kid in me won the argument on getting the light kit, though I tried to do it in a more tasteful way
Instead of getting a full light kit underneath, I decided to add LED's that tie in to the brake lights and turn signals. So they only come on when I use these safety features. At least my car is more visible to the multitude of horrible drivers out there and in my opinion I think it looks kinda cool. What do you guys think?
Sorry for the crappy photos. I found it quite hard to get the photos to match what it looks like in person, but for some reason LED's don't look that good in photos. This mod looks way better in person. I have attached photos of my DRL/turn signal switchbacks as well.

Well, you were right about the rice thing. Kind of a lot though. I remember when neon first became a thing too. I thought it was horrible and cheesy at the time. Time hasn't softened my opinion.
Excuse me while I go out to install a huge chrome grille and hood ornament, some curb feelers, fake fur interior upholstery, a vinyl half top, Landau bars, and an ostentatious external spare tire to my 70's pimp mobile G.

In my opinion the tail looks good. It does look like its a bit over with the different colors. Blue in trunk and headlights. Yellow side under kit.
On final input though, your taste your ride. You pay the note so what makes you feel good about it bro

Too many people are brainwashed by "the system" and are afraid to think for themselves. All to often I see people blindly follow what everyone else does because they want to fit in with the "cool" crowd, in turn this makes a lot of people unhappy because they are not being true to themselves. Eventually when these people "wake up", they will find out that the "cool" crowd are anything but. <---This is a generalized comment about how I see people that I run into in life and not directed to anyone here or about modding cars.
Red, only when braking.
Yellow, only when using a turn signal.
Blue, yeah it's a dance club

Will you lose sleep over it? I apologize if your "grown up" mind is having difficulty with all this. I'm here to talk if you need to work through this.
Anyway, I'm sure I'll get flamed for some of my responses. If you feel you must be a "flamer"
, go ahead and bring it. I have no problem having a discussion with you all. Don't take life so serious people...it is very short.
No I won't lose sleep or anything, was just stating my opinion which is to be expected from other people when you post things on the internet. It's your car and you can do as you please
. I see you're from TX as well, do you mind sharing what part as I'm from TX as well.

Can't wait to see the install pics!!! Maybe you could add some fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror to complete the look
.
I'm at the age now that I definitely don't get shaken by the haters. I could care less if people don't like it. I just find it funny when people seem to get so negative and try to knock someone down for being individualistic. Almost like they're getting angry if someone else mods their car in a way that doesn't conform to the mainstream viewpoint of how a car should be modded. They're are quite a few cars on this forum that I don't like, though I don't waste my energy trying to make them feel bad for it.

I have white led's as well, I change them out to suit my mood. Looking at the pictures, I definitely see your point on the "dance club" effect. However, all these lights are usually not on together:
Red, only when braking.
Yellow, only when using a turn signal.
Blue, yeah it's a dance club
. Again this color is changed to mood.
I love LED's so I like what you've done (not afraid to admit it). Do what makes you happy brother (No regrets). As people get older and start taking stock of their life, they start finding that they have regrets for not doing this or that. I will not be one of these people. I'm not just talking about LED's here. This crap world would be such a better place if everyone thought for themselves and didn't blindly follow the masses into an empty pit of soul death.
Yes it is, though only tied in to brake and turn signal (not on continuously). Not the normal flashy kit that changes colors and "dances" to the music.

Interior lights don't actually change color, I just have extra sets of bulbs in different colors which I change once in a while according to mood. LED's are fairly inexpensive and quite easy to change out. Interior bulbs can be purchased from either V-leds or Diode Dynamics. If you want to chance it, you could always try cheap E-bay ones. Though, I would suggest using one of the companies listed above for a better quality product.
