My transformation..my car is finally worthy of one of these
well as some of you may know, about a month ago i was the lucky winner of the raffle for vossen rims at the simply clean 4 even in Daytona. In this month time, i jump started everything else i wanted to do to my car to get it finally where i pretty much want it to be (everyone says they're done, but there's always something else to change and make better/cooler). In preparation for putting the rims on, i lowered the car on Tein H-tech springs for a drop that in my opinion is perfect for a DD and the crappy roads here in Orlando.....
These were right after i finished putting the springs on, springs didn't settle yet:

which turned into this:

Then came the harsh realization that all 4 rims and tires wouldn't fit in the G to the shop so i had to wait until someone could go with me to help bring all the stuff to the shop and help get my stock rims home...i couldn't be happier with the end result. Mike, Leo, and Diego at Vossen were extremely helpful during this to make sure i got everything correct and that it came out right.
I decided to get the Matte Silver VVSCV3 Rims, 20x10.5 all around with +25 offset on all four rims. I wrapped the rims in my favorite tires, the BFGoodrich KDW2 tires, size 255/30/20. Luckily, this is such a fat tire, even though its a 255 there is barely any stretch.....anyway on to the pictures:

and my favorite shot i took as soon as i got home:

(i know the car is dirty, its really crappy weather here in orlando, i was lucky enough to get a 30 minute window to go outside to get pictures when i got home without it pouring out)
also, i had it aligned today. I am without a camber kit on front or rear, just lowered the car, and threw the rims/tires on there:

honestly, i couldn't be happier with the setup, with the quality of the rims, and how the car turned out. i keep looking out the window staring at it...have a feeling im going to be doing that for a few days lol

Thats the very set up I am interested in doing. Plenty of people complain and say that the CV3 is played out but I love the simple concave 5 spoke. Its a classic.
Looks great! I hope to mimic it on my Graphite Shadow X coupe come spring!

Awesome setup. I bought some CV3s recently and won't be installing them until Spring. I read that without camber kits, tires will go bald in no time. Is that true?
I can easily afford springs ($200) and installation ($100) but cannot afford camber kits at this time ($400).

haha thanks man! i installed springs a week ago, so they had just settled, then took these pictures as soon as the car came off the lift. as of this morning, the car has settled a little compared to those pictures. i'll post new ones in a few days when it's done settling
Thanks!
haha, i still can't believe i won and that this all happened, but im soo happy it did. im over in the Avalon area by UCF. and yea i installed the springs a week ago but even on the stock tires i was very happy with it.
Thanks man, i couldn't agree more. everytime i'd think about a different set up, my thought process would regress back to cv3's 10.5 all around. it was the setup i first wanted when i got the car and have wanted for the last year and a half.
Thanks man!
hahaha amen, nothing beats free. From how it looked when i took the pictures i agree, it could be lower but as of this morning its settled a little bit. My ideal hight would be a little lower than those pictures but not slammed slammed, so when its done settling i'll see how it looks and decide from there if i should just splurge and get coils or not. Thanks for the compliment man, still not even close to as nice as your G is though
Thanks man, it depends how low you are though for the camber kit. there are a few guys on here with the 20x10.5 in rear that are slammed without camber kits and they're running fine.
thanks man, i couldn't be happier!
Thanks!
