My new car (sort of)...

I just traded in my 2008 G37S 6MT for a brand new 2010 G37S 7AT. I got a killer VPP deal and I couldn't pass it up. Here's the details:

2010 Infiniti G37S 7AT Journey
Graphite Shadow/Graphite
Premium
Sport
Navigation
Splash guards
Trunk net

MSRP - $45055
VPP sale price - $38970
39 mo lease $549/mo with $1200 due at signing (15k/year)

I know, I know, I got an automatic. Here's the thing, the 6MT is alot less refined than the auto IMO. This car feels about 100 times smoother than my last one. I also believe that the G series cars have a weak clutch. I was convinved mine was going any day so I jumped at the chance to get a new one. I love the updated nav system as well. Its got traffic and weather, Zagat, speed limit warning, and USB for my iPod.

I took some crappy pics today:

I LOVE this color!!

I prefer the washi trim to the shodo personally...

She had 7 miles on her yesterday...

Looks familiar...

The interior update feels slightly more upscale than the 08-09 IMO...

Its a poor substitute for 3 pedals, but the throttle-blipped downshifts sound awesome...

So clean...

XM weather...

I hope I can keep the paint looking like this!

So far so good. I always loved my old G and now I have a brand new one! Win!

+1 on the 6MT being less than refined. Although I enjoyed rowing the gears, when you drive a refined and smooth 6MT, you realize how much better Infiniti could have made this tranny. IMO, the 6MT tranny is the one weak spot on the G... hopefully Infiniti will sort it out in the next version.

I disagree with the 6mt being less refined on the G's, that argument can be made on any car then. Even on your new M3 the gearbox on that is also very very clunky, I feel its worse then the G because the throws are longer. I know so because my best friend has an M3 and its gearbox is rough. Regardless though i love it and i would always go with the 6mt, I just need to have a clutch pedal

I'm not talking about the shift action or the jerkier shift changes that are always a part of manual driving. I mean the torque converter on the 7AT does a better job of insulating the cabin from engine vibration. During my test drive I redlined the auto several times and noticed a profound lack of "grit" making it into the cabin (something that always precluded me from revving out my old 6MT). The car also feels somewhat quicker than the manual (probably due to the shorter gearing)...

Congrats on the new ride. The center console is an improvement as well. It seems to have a sturdier feel.

Congrats on the new ride. Shadow Graphite looks great.

I wish I went auto sometimes, but more than happy with the MT, wish it was as smooth as the Hondas though.

Are you wearing scrubs in that pic? doctor?

+1+1+1+1 I just got out of my 08 6mt and into a MW G37S 7AT. Couldn't have said it better myself. Entire car is smoother and feels much more refined.
