from looking at comparisons, i'd say this 450D is more comparable to the D90 which is about twice the price.

the things missing from the 450D that the D90 has is the top screen, video and audio capture, and ISO3200. however, i'm thinking there will soon be a firmware hack that will allow ISO3200 on the 450D as there was one for the older 300D.

So do you think this is a better "bang for your buck" than a Canon 40D????

Based on the available features, I'd say yes.

With the hack for higher ISO, I'd say without a doubt.

One thing that's actually better about this cam is the fps for continuous shots is better than the 40D due to the fewer MP (not that 12.2MP is small).

This doesn't have the top screen, which I think the 40D does, but I'm fine with that.

Here's a few of my pics with that camera. Its a slippery slope once you get a DSLR.

And just to keep this car related.

all of my shots were using the 55-250mm 4-5.6f IS lens.

your shots look seriously nice. any editing or boosting of colors in photoshop? very vivid.

Everything gets dipped in Photoshop. You can't get the pics to look like that straight out of the camera.

that's what i was thinking. the blue and red in the flag-statue pic look far too vivid for what i've seen come out of the camera.

nice shots !!!

i think that nikon has better body then canon which feels more plastic lol.. i got the D80 about 2 years ago and at that time the 400D canon was tempting for its price but decided to go with nikon . Get the Nikon D300 its soo amazing !

Nikon does make great cameras as well. Its sort of like the Mac/PC thing. You're either on one side or the other. With cameras, once you're invested in a bunch of lenses there is no switching to the other side of the fence.

As much as I can appreciate the quality of the Nikon's, I'll probably never own one just because I'm partial to Canon.

here are some pics i took today. totally car related now, for the haters.

Edit: these are all a little on the grainy side due to high ISO speeds. I forgot to enable "High ISO Speed Noise Reduction".. go figure.

This one is a 'before' picture of something.. I hope to have 'after' pics next weekend.
