Yep, sand, 3 coats of primer, 5 coats of paint, and 4 coats of clear coat (I think that's what we did, can't remember though with all those damn metallic chips floating around in the air)

We did it at Danny's place in Cypress, so it was pretty close to Torrance
No, it wasn't just regular spray paint, it was automotive paint by Dupli Color from Kragen. Sanded it down, then few coats of primer, few coats of paint, few coats of clear coat.
