Drive down to LA on I-5?

Would anyone take their G down to LA on I-5? Anyone who's traveled down that road knows how incredibly messy it can get with all the bugs and sometimes, rock chips. I would hate to drive down and let my G sit in the LA sun for a few days before coming back up and cleaning it. I DO have a clear bra but even though, the bugs get everywhere.

It'll no doubt be a lot of fun going thru the freeway at high speeds but is it worth it?

Of course its worth it! I'll be making the opposite trip to SF in June for my cousin's graduation. Just with a blue tape bra instead

its an infiniti not a Ferrari or super rare car. whats up with some of you guys thinking this is the all end of cars. R-Rides an I drove up and down the 5 to San Fran. those guys took their widebodied custom painted cars to texas. If you are really really worried slap some blue tape on front and then peel it off. or grab a bucket in la, nice wash mitt some soap and a shami. go to .25 spray and wash and clean it up.
Its a CAR folks. A CAR! i have done the drive many times. not a big deal.

ohh when i had my old integra with more custom work than most car people will do ever a 7500 paint job and more fiberglass than 10 basketball courts, did the drive all the time.

enjoy the car or sell it to someone who can.

sorry for rant

^ you know, its all relative. Yes its a CAR, but its a car that I spent 47k on and I would like to treat it well and keep it maintained. I wasn't blessed with a ****load of money that I can treat this like a toy.

Maybe its "just a car" to you but to me its worth a whole lot more then that.

I also plan on keeping this car for its entire lifetime. I'm never going to sell, my G will be with me till the end.

^^Both are very good points. I think in this case the drive isn't that bad. You're pretty good since you have claer bra, but if you want to go the mile, i would suggest blue taping the bumper.

And yes, it is a fairly expensive investment, I don't have that much either, but I make it a point to not let that stop me from enjoying what what I have, especially because I put a lot into it.

I would say blue tape, that is what I am planning to do when I go down there this summer.

I took the I-5 last weekend down to sand diego. I usually take the I-15 but there's a lot of rocks and crap through that way which i learned the hard way with my G35.

I drive from Anaheim Hills to Thousand Oaks every other weekend, I sit in the worst traffic and when it picks up its nothing but dust, potholes and bugs, my car is fine. That would be 91 W to 5N to 101 W, if you want the easy route, of course that varies with how traffic is going.

tape it up. im not blessed with lots of money either. I work 75-90 hours per week. Typically on my days off im still working. Ask Terrible, but I work hard and my car is one of the few things i enjoy so i drive it. It was built to drive. I agree its not cheap but its still much more fun behind the driver seat tahn in the garage. Thats all iwas saying, trust me im not rich

jumping on the band wagon, the drive down the I-5 is not that bad. I drive an FX35 and I've driven from the bay area to LA, San Diego and Vegas. personally I put on a bra, and clean the hell out of my windows every time I stop. Most probably don't like bra's on there front ends. unlike Viet and Marty both have widebody vehicles so blue tape is to help protect their front ends, which I do the same if I didn't have a bra. just my 2cents.

Question: how does the clear bra look on your BO. been hesitating to put one on mine. I was told it was too noticeable and would look crappy... any pics

It depends where you get it. Mine is hardly noticeable unless you look for it. I got mine at premiermobilegroup, good look them up. It'll cost you a good chunk of change. Mine came out to about $850 for the entire front end up to about mid hood w/ the side mirrors.
