Possible great news- Found Mod Friendly Dealership

Well, after going to Peninsula and Serramonte and being turned away, I may have a found a mod friendly dealership.

Infiniti of Oakland
7201 Oakport Street
Oakland, CA 94621
Phone (510) 639-2000

I have the clicking rear axle sound and went to Peninsula. They said since I upgraded my wheels/tires, the clicking sound would not be covered under warranty.

I went to Serramonte and they said since I lowered my car, they would not cover it under warranty.

It was a long shot, but I emailed the folks at Oakland Infiniti and they just called me back saying they will work on my car.

I told them I had bigger wheels/tires, upgraded brakes, and lowered suspension and they said it is okay because those three would not have a direct effect on the rear axles. How great is that?

I am so happy I cannot contain myself. We will truly find out if this dealership is in fact mod friendly when I bring in my car on Wednesday morning. I will keep everyone updated.

The service manager at Oakland Inifiniti is Dean. So if you have anything urgent issues that need addressing, give him a call and set up an appt.

If your mod is the direct cause of the problem, ie. you upgrade brakes and your brakes squeak, then it will not be covered.

I will also ask Dean on Wednesday if they will install aftermarket parts.

If anyone has had experience with Oakland Inifiniti, please chime in.

I'm bringing my car in for the 1st oil change sometime this week. They are going to do all the TSB's for my car as well. Haven't actually had the car serviced there yet since this is my first visit but they sound easy to deal with. I also did mention that my car had minor mods to it and they said no worries.

Does Serramonte or service depts. in the Bay Area care about light mods such as Z tube, G35C midpipe, and possibly Motorodyne 1/2" plenum spacer kit and aftermarket y pipe?

A local dealership with a respectable service department is usually an oxymoron!

Vinh,

When you're there, can you ask them if they will cover the "ROTORS" for the Brembos?
F'n Penninsula wanted to charge me $1,000 just for the rotors I said heck no...!!!

DETAILS...!!!

brembo rotors are not covered under warranty by any dealership.

i recommend you upgrade the rotors and get them installed either by a dealership or a shop like Scott Performance.

So...dropped off the car today. Worked with Louis Rodriguez.

so far, GREAT, and I mean GREAT experience. This is what it means to own an Infiniti.

dropped the car off, did a walk through, signed some papers, and they had the loaner sitting right outside. In/out in about 15 minutes.

I've had my car serviced at Peninsula before and never got an Infiniti as a loaner, even when I called in advance. With Oakland, they gave me a new 2005 G35 Sedan.

Oakland has a HUGE, brand spankin' new facility and it looks great.

I will update with the results when I pick the car up tomorrow, but so far, so good.

Louis was the guy i worked with too when I went to get my rear axle replaced. So far sounds exactly like my experience, in and out, brand new g35 sedan as loaner, professional, friendly.

They had to overnight the parts so they kept my car an extra day, but he kept in touch with me throughout the whole process. At least I got to tool around in the sedan for an extra day.

Overall great experience.

yes...i just got a call updating me on the status. they confirmed the sound was the classic rear axle sound covered in the TSB. they are also overngithing parts, but hope to be done by tomorrow afternoon.

another plus for the phone call update, which they promised to give me and did.
