What’s up everyone, so I’ve been a Nissan guy since my first car (‘91 240sx coupe). I’ve owned 6 240sx’s, an Altima Coupe, 2 350z’s (1 being a Nismo), 2 300zx’s and 2 G35 Coupes. I found this rough gem on marketplace for $10k, I randomly asked if he’d take $9k and he agreed. Upon seeing the car in person, there was more flaws than that were listed (none were listed) and I offered $8500 which was agreed upon so I ran with it. I love fixing up neglected cars and this one definitely deserves it. I don’t know if he knew what he had but to me this was like the holy grail of G37’s. Having owned all that I have in the past, the next car I wanted had to be an upgrade and the G37 was it, I was just looking for an S model but couldn’t believe an actual IPL was for sale. She’s a rescue so look forward to this thing becoming the clean luxury sports car it once was.

Reason: Title change
are you going on the hunt for the illustrious IPL wheels? that red interior is so cool. I dont think even Q60's can pull off the IPL red interior look on G37's. Its got the "rare JDM" vibe to it.

I’m not sure if I will source out the oem wheels. I got lucky I guess with these Enkei wheels, fitment is good. They poke out a little, but I will have Nismo wheels in the long run, just not sure what model yet.
I would focus on getting the car back to stock as these are destined to become collectables.
Has the exhaust been replaced? IPLs shipped with the Nismo Z exhaust and tune, so both should remain with the car. Keep the badging intact.
I also love the IPL wheels, but they are tough to locate. There is a set near me now that look like they have been buried underground for 5 years and the guy still wants $1000.

Find a good upholstery shop to recover the seats as they are somewhat iconic and need to stay with the car.
Nice find.
Right now my focus is getting the car running in tip top shape. She has the “service engine soon” light and upon scanning, I’ll need new o2 sensors, crank sensor and something else I’m sure. The car has the mufflers cut off… I don’t know why but like I said, this is definitely a rescue and I can’t wait to get her in the right condition. I’m just happy I found one and it’s at least running. This car was baking in the AZ sun for god knows how long and I’m sure was beat to hell. I’ve never seen huge tears like I have before, maybe the car was vandalized at one point? But she has a clean title and I’ve cleaned up 2 G35’s previously and this one will get the same treatment.
Damn, that car was beaten on and neglected. What a shame, but how awesome that you want to make it whole again. If you're wanting to document your restoration, you could start a build thread. Or this could be your build thread. Either way, I'd love to follow a good restoration. Particularly on something as special as an IPL.
Here’s some more of the damage, she was real trashed on the inside as well… food stuck on the console, trash everywhere. I don’t get it….
Fixing the bumper gaps and fog lights are a easy fix. Take the car to Maaco to get repainted. As far as the seats. Just find a good pair at the junk yard or online and get them dyed red. I found a black one at the junkyard and the guy charged me $200 to dye it. My drivers leather was worn and a weld had broke so it was rocking in turns. Paid $100 at the junk yard for it. Might as well throw some aftermarket headlights in there while you're in there fixing the bumper. No need to take the bumper completely off. Just need to take the screws and clips off the top and sides and slide it down to gain access to the screws on the bottom of the headlights.

If I were to guess, he's probably has around 12k invested in the restoration, but the car looks amazing and to touch anything new at this level would run you 50K+
