Remote start problem

I found out after getting my 2011 g37x sedan that if you hit the lock button 3x it tries to crank three times but never cranks over. So I assumed that my car had auto start but needed something else put on it to make it work right. I finally decided to get a aftermarket remote start kit. Put it on yesterday but now when u hit lock 3x it tries to crank once like normal but it seems to me that as it tries to crank the second time the kit I put on takes over and stops it from cranking and the kits runs and cranks the car like it should. Anyone know how I can keep it from trying to crank before the kit takes it over and work as it should ?

Dumb question, maybe, but did you remove the "old" aftermarket remote start kit before you installed the "new" remote starter kit?

I didn’t …. I didn’t think it had an old one on there the reason why it would try to crank three times but not crank i thought was because it wasn’t a remote start on it. U know how I could go about taking that old one off?

Are you sure you are not confusing the doors locking (they click) with the engine trying to start? Define "trying to crank."
These cars did not come with factory/ OEM remote start here in the US. Options were limited to aftermarket units. Japan had a fancy OEM add-on kit but that is a different topic.

As for removing the old one, if one is installed, it will be virtually impossible for anyone here to know what previous work was done to your car let alone what would be needed to get the car sorted.

What kit did you install? Fortin?

You know what you installed with the 12volt kit. Only other thing would be to investigate under the dash and look for anything out of the ordinary. Most kits have you tap into the start button wiring, that is as good a place as any to check for non-OEM wires and start tracing. Anything OEM will be wrapped up tight and neat whereas aftermarket will be "messy."

I wish I had better advice for you. It is just impossible for anyone here to diagnose a unknown...

Basically with that kit you get some harnesses that you have to plug in with the plugs that plugged into the computer that’s under the passenger side dash up against the right side wall. And yeah my next move was to trace wires from the column and the push start button. I appreciate you trying to help and responding

I understand how the kits are installed. I also know the wiring on these cars is very robust- trust me, as many mods as I've made my car is a complete Frankenstein. I am just pointing out that if there was already a aftermarket unit installed- and it didn't work- and you installed a 2nd kit- that the two are likely competing with each other in some way OR, the first unit is interfering as it didn't work in the first place.

I would remove the 12volt kit and, as mentioned above, start checking for evidence of another kit. If nothing, then you can reinstall and continue with troubleshooting.

Am I correct in that you are saying the engine is TURNING OVER (cranking) but it does not RUN (start)?

Ok I see what your saying. I’m gonna try to start looking around for extra wires or any signs of another kit and yeah your correct it tries to start up but the engine never turns over and start

I actually was at a store when I found out it done that. I went in the store and tried to lock my car and hit the lock button a few times for some reason it didn’t honk until the last time then I hear a car sound like it was trying to crank but won’t . I thought it was someone else having problems starting there car but noticed it was mines lol

See post #4 above...

The G37, in ANY global variant, did NOT come with factory remote start. In Japan, a OEM kit was available for the JDM cars ONLY.

As I've said before, either your car had a previous AFTERMARKET kit installed, or there is a incorrect installation with your "new" 12voltsolutions kit.

Much as we would like to help, this is one of those cases where eyes and hands are needed.

ill hunt down the aftermarket one that’s on there because the 12voltsolutions one that I hooked up does work like it should it just tries to crank one time before the 12voltsolutions one takes over and actually start the car like it should. Appreciate the help
