Short ram intake questions

Wassup VQ gang!! I’ve had my 08’ G37s for about 7 months now. She’s running smooth, I take care of her and vice versa. However, I have a few questions because I hear a lot of bad speculation about short ram intakes. I was wondering do short rams decrease hp and torque? Are they worth it for G’s?

The stock ones are great as is tbh. Just get some high-flow dry or oil filters. But if you are pushing for number power-wise get the true cold air intakes that come all the way out to the back of the front bumper. Do not get those short ram air intakes, all you are doing is sucking in hot air, and tuners hate tuning cars with them on.

Hey Amir I appreciate you and I understand. I bought the car already with aftermarket short rams and one of the filters recently broke. So I had to result into getting another set. I’m looking forward to getting the full cold air intake down the line Thanks!

Yeah, you should be fine to drive with them. But during summer you will feel that it drives a bit sluggish but not the end of the world.

I"ve had the K&N short ram intake. when sitting, they heat soak and you'll feel it in throttle response. They aren't bad if you're moving and you'll see teh air temp drop if you are monitoring it.

I agree with Amir, the stock air box with high flow drop in filters are great.

What you could do, is what I'm going to do, my gf got me dc sports short rams for Christmas, so I'm gonna get 2 11in. Long 2.5in. Pipes, with a cpl couplers and 2 90 degree bends to put the filters behind the grill. I'll post up pics when I get around to doing it. There is a YouTube vid of a guy doin this same thing. He used exhaust tubing, I'm gonna use pvc because it's lighter. I image If you paint it up nicely it would look pretty good.
