New to Upgrades

I have a 2011 g37 journey and I want to increase my horsepower. This is my first time doing this. So I'm looking for any advice on where to start, do's and don't and any recommendations.

I'm in the same boat as you my friend! Well, if I can ever get my car out of the stealership... Sigh.

Check out Z1 Motorsports. All kinds of stuff there to add power and other bits for fun i.e. suspension etc.

the easy, cost effective upgrdes are generally; test pipes, exhaust, and intake. Then a tune to top it off.

to build on that, you'd be considering ported upper and lower manifold, and headers. I wouldn't really recommend larger throttle bodies but its an option.

For most people, the initial 3 and tune is enough to have fun.

I do live in California I might add. Ive been looking on z1 MotorSports and they don't deliver to my state. I know the laws out here make it damn near impossible to tune any vehicle in Cali but of course there are ways around that. Is there any place that you would recommend other than z1 that delivers to California?

Lol I am not laughing AT you, I just don't understand lol does Z1 really not deliver to CA? For NONE of their products? Seems unbelievable. I'd grab the part numbers from Z1 then and look on Amazon or eBay or other sites that do deliver to CA. And/or call Z1 and ask why....

Hi and welcome to the group! A lot of good info here regarding mods in case you are thinking of doing any. Check out some of the garages and you may get some ideas. Good luck and keep us posted!

What's the argument against larger TBs?

they can be pain to deal with if not tuned correctly; rev hang and idle surges.

for the cost, there isn’t much hp gain, but will help with throttle response. I generally suggest larger TB as a finisher mod or as one of the last mod to add.

I’ve had EPS 70mm TB, and moving to 75mm.

Side comment, I have a set of EPS TB for sale $450.

So, is what Z1 selling here snake oil? Lol Daytona Racing 370Z / G37 VQ37VHR Upgraded Throttle Bodies

Certainly seems way overpriced, especially for only being 61mm diameter sized...

For $900+, they better open up the airflow larger than that :/ lol
