So, my blower motor has stopped working and after removing it, I noticed that the wiring harness/connector looks burned up. No fuses blown. I am just curious on if this has happened to anyone else, the cause, can I just replace that connector (should the blower motor still work which I plan on testing later today), and how can I prevent it form happening again?
P.S. This is my first post and I am very new to these forums, so If this has been answered please help me get to that thread.
Generally a connector gets hot like that due to a poor connection. You need to look at the male spade on the other connector to see how it looks. If the individual connectors are cleaned up/repaired and as long as the winding isn't damaged in the motor itself then the motor should still work.
Being that you mentioned the blower "stopped working" the likely scenario is that the motor was starting to fail (due to age/ water/ failing bearings/etc.) and pulled too much current for the wiring not enough current to pop the fuse, but enough to scorch the connector.
The 'verts have a similar issue with the blower in their seats- the motors pull too much current and melt the connector.
First, check to see if there is any signs of water leaks- check the cabin filter for signs of dampness/ mold/ etc. As these cars age the window cowl seal begins to fail allowing rainwater to enter the blower box.
I would likely plan on replacing the blower but that is your decision.

I had essentially given up, as I am not one to mess around with wiring, but when I put the blower motor back in (before I was about to take the car to a mechanic) it fired right up and works perfectly.... I know that it will most likely not last, so I plan on making a simple exchange of the connector, while also trying to address a potential water leak (my previous g37 started to leak around this same age mark so that seems to make the most sense to me). Does anyone know where a good place to find one of these connectors/harnesses?
