I apologize for the formatting and lengthy post since I'm on mobile and have a bunch of questions that weren't answered in older threads.

I've been looking around for a used G37s coupe since my last car died. It was an '08 FWD 3.2 I6 Volvo V70 Wagon that had a lot of power but was too big and beat up so it handled like a boat. The G37s coupe seems to be the only reliable fun car in my budget.

I have found 2 with the specs I like so far,

1) A '08 G37S with 120k miles on the dash , bone stock

2) A '08 G37S with 125k miles on the dash, with the following:
Stillen Gen3 Dual Air Intake
Stillen grounding kit
Stillen Sway bars
Cusco Strut brace
Eibach Pro Plus Suspension kit
Whiteline Differential Bushing
Koni adjustable shocks
Uprev mapping: 4 maps: 1. Performance, 2. Valet parking, 3. Security, 4. Launch Control.
Alpine Sound System
NITTO INVO Tires: performance tires
Wheels Spacers
They're both the exact same price, though the first one has more wiggle room since it is coming from a used car dealer. I am guessing the second sounds better with the aftermarket intake but does it also affect reliability? I don't care too much about performance since I this will be my first RWD car and I don't want to oversteer accidentally :3

Sadly I can only find the '08 models since the only '13 models available with the gallery gasket fix are either the G37x or the sedan. Is there a way to have a mechanic inspect it before purchasing to see if it has failed already? I have also heard that the '13 models have a better dash that doesn't crack, this could be a problem as well since I am in Dubai with 50C summers


Or do I continue looking for a '13 G37s?

 

I would stay away from anything modded. Stock is the best way to purchase a vehicle.

 

Take a look at both and see what service history is available. Chances are the modified one has been driven hard (not always the case however).

I'd try to get the stock one assuming it is clean, maintained, and all issues are sorted out.

Test ride them both, and report back.
im curious if all that money spent gives a tangible improvement.

And don't worry about oversteer, as long as the modded car doesn't have the traction control disabled you'll be fine.
