Hi all, As noob as they come with my recently purchased 2010 67S vert. Couldn't really afford it but couldn't resist it either. I've had it all of one week and have only driven in it once when I test drove it. I've left it at the dealers (friend) until I can give it a proper home in my garage. It's got all of 38,550 miles on it and actually looks 90% show room condition inside and out and the Toyos are at 85%! I spent hours reading through threads on here before holding my nose and jumping into my first Infinity. Learned a lot including things that now make me paranoid about owning a vert. Hope I'm one of the lucky ones!! Sorry about the image size. I'll have to learn how to downsize, but you could literally eat off of this motor...and that's not a prep clean. That's maintenance.
It appears that the original owner installed these Spectre cold air intakes. Can anyone give me any feedback on whether these are worth having o this ride and if they really even add any notable performance....? Thanks! Happy to be on the site!
Welcome to the site and before we get too far into it, it's Infiniti
Sounds like a nice vert you scored w/ few miles and the S pkg!
Those intake "pop" chargers sound nice at WOT & higher rpms, they don't do much for performance but if you like the look and the sound I'd say keep them.
Post up some shots of your vert when you can and congrats!
welcome to the club im a newb as well.
the air intake is not a cold air intake but rather a sri short ram intake. it does nothing performance wise but looks cool and sounds so good at WOT wide open throttle. i recently installed one and OMG my gas mileage is down because I love that sound it growls!
I know its stupid and trust me im way to old for it but i find my seld not downshifting sometimes just so i can get to WOT to hear that sound.
if you have not already and the previous owner has not get a complete interier led swap from diode dynamics. what a difference this makes for short money. I hate the oem incadsent yellow bulbs ewwww
Those intakes do nothing for performance, and probably actually make less power than the OE setup. While I'm not a fan of SRI (short ram intakes), they are popular because they're easy to install and maintain. There doesn't appear to be any effort made to seal those up so that they don't suck in hot air from the engine bay.
Check out how the R2C intake seals up to the front intake inlet, and shields the sides
LOL...yeah, thanks guys, I know it's "Infiniti". Didn't even realize having misspelled. I shall definitely be more careful in the future.
Re: the SRI on the vehicle and your comment Lego_Maniac; when I first looked at them I noticed that a 2" or better diameter tube was installed right in front of each air filter to help "ram" more cold air directly towards the tip of the filter...where the end caps are. I agree that it's kind of defeating the purpose by subjecting them totally to the hot air in the engine bay. I imagine that these cold air vents/tubes open to the outside air must help a little...no? And wouldn't hot engine bay air still get drawn into the intake inside those side shields?
Is that R2C set up on your ride? That engine bay is also ridiculously clean! And would there be any or more performance to be had from an SRI set up if it was complimented with the right aftermarket exhaust...which I cant afford...? If they are so worthless on their own why would people spend the money on them? Just for the looks that barely anyone ever sees...?
And I may have to go elsewhere to ask this question but I'll roll it in here just to see if there's a yes or no answer to whether anyone here that may have the 7 speed auto notices that when the transmission rev matches on down shift ...that the car lurches forward each time a bit? I'll search the for where to post this question.
Thanks
PS The car is still in the dealers building. Can you believe that I've owned for over a week and haven't touched it again yet?! When I do I'll take and post pics and what I paid for it. Interested in y'all's opinion on whether I got a decent deal.

Does your hood lock down over those side shields to create an enclosed area to help prevent hot air from getting into the intake? Just thought about that...

That's not my car, I have Takeda long tubes.
People put them on because they look good, sound awesome, and unlike long tubes, don't require you to modify the bumper support, so they're easy to install and maintain.

As long as they're not robbing me of any power. Car is heavy enough as is...
