Cool Rev Limiter problems

I took my 2013 g37s convertible with MT to an HPDE driving event at Watkins Glen, First time with this car at the track. After several laps, I noticed that I was unable to get the car to run above 6000 rpm going up hill at full throttle. When I came off, I tried turning off the DTC. I went about four laps and then the same thing happened. With the power band in the 6-7500 rpm area, it really puts a damper on the driving experience. Is this a common problem? Is this a programming problem? How do I get it taken care of. One of the reasons I bought the car was to be able to use it at road tracks.

Sounds like fuel starvation that occurs in our platform during right turns. CJM makes a road race pump: https://cj-motorsports.com/products/...race-pump-370z

You bought a wrong car for auto-x / track, imo.
But post some pics / vids as you are likely one of very few to use a vert this way.

What other supporting mods do you have for auto-x? What class are you running with?

And I'm glad he did, but I still think this car is not made for auto-x. It's big, heavy, and not great in tight turns. But take it to some windy mountain roads and it performs gloriously.

Track event, not autoX. I had no troubles during my one track event but I started with a full tank.

I have been an instructor for HPDE events for more than 10 years. My most recent track car was a '95 Mustang. I sold it and the trailer and bought the Infinity. I thought with the 3.7 liter engine and 330 HP it would be OK on track. It is heavy and is not the fastest car, but it handles well and if it did not have the issue with the RPM it would be a fun ride.

Oh I'm definitely not knocking - it's a ton of fun. I just know that the extra 500 lbs from that top aren't helping the cause. A coupe would be a lot more agile for sure.

Most of my friends auto-x or track miatas - pretty much an ultimate budget track toy. Outside of those activities, I cannot be seen in a miata, unfortunately. The G is a much better looking (manlier) car. haha.

Looking to pick up a car myself as a project/ track/ third family vehicle and as much as this car has been recommended to me...no matter how many testimonials I've read that say it's a fantastic car...the moment I start to really consider it my body almost has a knee jerk reaction of "absolutely not". Don't think my ego will let me ever go with it.

I think the real deciding factor was when I told my wife my plans and that I was considering one and she said:

"I can never (emphasis) see you driving a Miata..."

Don't get me wrong, I can see why guys love them for the driving experience and I think it's fantastic dudes can rip them around a track but I just can't do it lol..
