Just Saying Hello

Hello All,

Picked up a 2011 G37S coupe a couple of weeks ago with 43k miles on it and bone stock. Not long after my purchase I discovered this site and have been browsing periodically. Talk about information overload! Where to start.....?

Sure are some nice lookin rides on here.

Regards,

J.

Hey, thanks for the welcome! Yes there is definitely a wealth of information here. Its taken me a while just to get familiarized with all the abbreviations and terms used....HFC, CAI, CBE, drone, rasp, etc. Hahaha.... Shoot, this is my first car since college. I've been a truck, SUV, and motorcycle guy for the past 25+ years. I'm still not exactly sure what drone is as it relates to various exhaust systems.

I've already started mapping out my plan of attack as far as mods go. First will be intake, exhaust, and tune. I'm liking the looks and sound of the Ark Grip exhaust at the moment.

Check out Stillen intake/Exhaust systems. I have it. Love it! I'm 49 and wanted a mature sounding exhaust for me personally and noticed even the young appreciate it!

Drone is just the resonance inside the cabin when holding steady RPMs; usually at highway/cruising speeds. For short trips it's not a big deal. A 240 mile round trip to visit the grandparents on the other hand...

Ark is a fantastic sounding system. If that's one you enjoy, check out the Fast Intentions system as well. Very similar sounds but different appearances.

Ok got it, I had figured it was something to that effect.

Both the Stillen and the Fast Intentions CBE look and sound good as well. This might require a bit more research. I tend to prefer the deeper, throatier sounding exhaust notes.

I'll also be doing a little interior trim work as the driver side door pull and upper trim strip have some of the faux brushed aluminum finish scratched up. Other than that the interior is clean. I just need to decide if I'll replace those with new or pull all the trim pieces and have them painted, dipped, or wrapped.

Have to say, wrapping is a pain in the a$$ but it's very rewarding when people notice it and you can say you did it. Also durable and lasts long if done right; and at the end of the day, you can easily remove it.

Yeah, I've read through a couple of posts where guys have wrapped some of the trim pieces. I can see where it would be a P.I.T.A..... Need to look into it a bit more as I have no experience working with vinyl wrap.

Neither did I and it took me hours to do my grill lol. Re-did it 3 times but in the end I'm happy I did it.
