G37x from Accord

Just picked up my G37x on Monday - great car!

Traded from an Accord EXVL Coupe (08) and my wife was wanting me to get a sedan as we have 2 children and the coupe was a pain. Went to a Honda dealer looking for a sedan and saw a G37x and knew it was for me. Looked at several and bought mine from Indiana - car is immaculate and if I ever find the owner would love to thank them for treating their car like I do.

In the Accord I had upgraded the audio (Morel, Zapco, Audiocontrol, etc.) and am surprised at how well the Bose "Studio on Wheels" performs - might leave it alone :-)

2011 G37x
Blue Slate Pearl with Stone interior
Sport wheel upgrade, Bose, Navigation and wood trim
35% tint was on it
67k miles

Wasn't sure about the paint at first but I love the way it changes colors. Regardless of how it looks pictures always seem blue.

For what it's worth, the blue looks good man. All the chrome throws it off. If you start tinkering with color combos and vinyl I think you can smooth out the transition from paint to trim.

As much as I'd like to welcome you, that was a good looking Accord man. Honda did alright with the Accord redesign and the coupe is sharp IMO. My step-dad had one when I was a Senior in HS and I envied him for it lol. Had the it in the blue they offered it in so it was a head turner.

Thanks!

If you ask my wife, then no upgrades

I'm not sure at this point - probably rear turn signal mod for LEDs, maybe sub to help the low end of Bose.

On my Accord I did HID conversion (not needed), blacked out roof (no), upgraded wheels (done with Sport), upgraded audio (has Bose).

I'm sure I'll find something.

Thanks!

I liked the Accord as the 08/09 Coupe had better lines IMHO before they changed the rear end in 2010 and I changed the wheels to 2013+ wheels. It was a combination of the prompting to move to a sedan and the Accord V6 has a known issue with carbon buildup leading to excessive oil consumption on the V6 with VCM (variable cylinder management) and mine wasn't using oil and it was getting old enough to lose trade value based on shorted bank loans. I figured this fall it would lose more value due to the age and I was concerned with possible oil consumption in the future - all good reasons to trade it now.

Wow, didn't realize there was so much to look out for. Came with the J motor right? Always heard they were sleepers but I'm interested to see how the line does with the boosted K in it.

Not crazy about the ILX look they adapted.

Yes - J35Z2. Honda extended the warranty covering oil consumption to 8 years/150k miles due to the issue. Hopefully it was more widespread than the oil gasket on the G37 :-). Usually see them clocked at low to mid 5s for 0-60 so not bad. Gorgeous interior and questionable rear end in the new Accords - they dropped the V6 and the Coupe.

A lot of cars are now using turbos to produce more power from a smaller displacement. I'm old school (and used to sell Audi's) so in my mind the turbo is only good for 100k - has that changed? I always buy used and that would be a concern. My wife has a Countryman S and the turbo scares me.

Coming from an Accord, get ready for some horrible gas mileage.

Had the 271hp V6 with a spirited driving style - never checked but seemed like 16-18 in town and I did manage 27 on the hwy once.

I drive about 7,500 miles per year so fuel economy isn't a concern - the price difference between the two, even if 5 mpg different, will be negligible.

Seems like luxury cars don't get great economy. Still better than the GX470 I had :-).
