Just bought a new g37xs 12 on 2/9/13

Hey everyone. just got myself a 2012 G37xs loaded to the teeth on 75k miles. I have been missing out on this engine and this community. First off I have never seen such a warm, intuitive, and incredibly knowledgeable car community.

After going over my options of an m5, s6 Audi, cts v, e 63, even Lexus rc, I have made the best financial choice with the g37. This car is amazing in everything aspect after my previous car being a Lexus ls430 and previously to that a lex gs.

I have lurked g35 and g37 for over two years, my leap of faith has been a prolonged smirk and hardon for this car.

I hope I can contribute to this community and grow with the opinions and knowledge all of you hold.

Thank you you very much for viewing this post. I loom forward to replies.

Nice to have you on board, sounds like a pair of nice Lexus rides you've had, always thought the GS were the best looking Lexus and still feel that way w/ their newest versions. Is your XS a sedan or coupe?

Post some pics when you can and glad you're finding the site friendly & helpful.

I will have pics up once I get her cleaned up from all this snow and salt in NYC. I was looking for advice on builds through this forum and I want to do something really unique. I hope to create a red/black carbon fiber G.

I forgot to mention its a sedan.

I'm having a hard time finding OEM parts for this car. The parts center Infiniti in my area is giving me astronomical numbers. Since I just got this car I want maintain it to the fullest and keep everything OEM. Can you guys tell me..

brand of motor oil 5w30 you use for this.
where to get transmission fluid from Nissan.
brake pads? Why is it so hard to locate them.
also any good websites to buy OEM parts?

sorry for all of this but I have been dealing with Lexus for over 8 years and Infiniti is something I never looked into for parts and part costs.

Thanks all all for the replies and advice

Ask 5 people about oil and you'll probably get 5 different results, I use Pennzoil Platinum 5w/30 full synthetic and the larger Infiniti 5.6l V8 oil filters, Wix is usually what I use there.

You should be able to find Nissan Matic S ATF at your Nissan dealer. Probably cheaper than shipping it from an online shop

Check KNSbrakes.com for brake parts, great on-site vendor that will match the parts to your needs.

For OEM online parts check www.discountinfinitiparts.com they are one of several sites that are actually regular dealers that have online sites.

^ to my understanding, you can only change the transmission fluid with the dealer and only the dealer. It's so particular that it might even be changed by Vin number. At least that's what I have heard from local sources and mechanic who deal with G37's.

You can DIY the AT fluid but it's a bit more involved, here's a DIY link, FWIW I did this about 20k miles ago and still performing well

Also, dropping the pan to clean it & the pan magnets is a nice bonus w/ the DIY.

I think I'm retarted I can't program my seats and mirrors. I hold the set button for 5 seconds then I press 1 for a second more together with set. It saved my seats but it won't save mirrors, keeps moving them to default.

So I tried to just set 2 to downward pointing mirrors when I reverse. That doesn't work either. On my previous car the lex ls430, it was very easy.

Ive watched YouTube videos and I have read the forums, still can't get it to work :/

Going to be taking in the car for mandatory maintenance after the previous owner. Ill have pics up of her once I get her washed after maintenance.

I've been digging around the forums, weighing my options on mods, and financial status. Once I sell my old car, Ill have about 3k to play with to mod the G. What I'm looking at doing first is changing those hideous stock rims into the the 2008 G37 19'' Rims, I figure I will prob run a 245/40/19 setup in the front and 275/35/19 on the back.

Infiniti G37 2008 19" Rear Wheel Rim 73705

These are the wheels I'm looking at getting.

Obv I also need the TPMS Sensors, I'm having a hard time figuring out if this will affect any cabin noise, handling on the road, and overall wear and tear of the tires with this setup.

All help is appreciated. Thank you very much.
