Greetings!

Hi All,

I just wanted to register and say HI to the community. I've recently purchased a CPO 2013 Moonlight Pearl G37x and this forum was instrumental in my decision. I've come from a long history of BMW ownership (my last car being a 6-MT 328xi that I had totaled for me) and I like to do a lot of research about any vehicle before I purchase. This site has incredible info, and gave me a really good feeling for what these cars are like and what's possible with them.

I've literally had it for less than a day, and I've already done the grounding mod. I also have paddle shifters and the new trim pieces ready to go in tomorrow. Next mods are probably blacking out the grill and the mirrors (plastidip) and covering the silver interior trim with some carbon fiber pattern vinyl. Future mods are most likely an Injen SRI and a Stillen exhaust (for midrange grunt and sound, in that order), but even those choices were made easy by the awesome DYI and comparison posts made by members here. I also have the rear sway bar from a Sport coupe waiting to go in once the weather warms up a bit.

Anyway, with these cars being so well understood I'm not sure there is much new stuff I can contribute. But I did want to say HI and let you all know what an awesome and resource-rich community this is.

Looking forward to hanging out with you guys and gals.
-Jeff

Hi Jeff, glad you found us and sounds like you've got some good plans in store. I assume you have the sedan but you didn't say that in your post. There's quite a few cool vinyl types for that interior trim, the black machined vinyl looks pretty sweet IMO. At any rate, welcome to the site and post up some pics when you can.

Welcome to the forum Jeff and congrats on the new G! Sounds like you have your head already set on a few sweet mod choices as well. Post up some photos of your new car for us and possibly start your own build thread in the 'build thread' section of the forum to keep us all posted with your progress!

Welcome Jeff!

Couldn't wait huh? Ha ha, I was the same way. Interior *****, Gt-r start button / LED remodel, GT-r Map replacement and interior light upgrades are also quick and aesthetically pleasing mods that can be done while it's cold btw

Looking forward to seeing your progress!

Thanks for the kind words guys. RMB5190 - I didn't even know about the GT-R start button and now I might have to do it. It's like a disease.

Anyway, here are a couple pictures. This is just as she came home on Friday.

Shiny and clean

Did the paddle shifter install this morning. Didn't take long, but lining all the trim up again is just tedious.

Paddle shifters installed

And I popped the mirror shells and did the black Plastidip routine on them. I'm hoping to get the grille tomorrow and I can have a nice side by side comparison.

Mirrors blacked out

I have some hydro dipped mirror covers and the clear coat is peeling and it looks like as$, might have to go that route to get them looking better. Looks like the mod bug is nibbling and getting ready to take a big chunk out of your skin, you've been warned

Very nice!

Definitely check out the start button. If you're not into the red GT-R button, check out Impul. They come in black or blue. I chose blue

Nice on the Impul switches. I'm not a huge fan of blue LEDs, but if I can change them out I might try for red.

Got the grille done today, with before and after shots.

Black is a little cleaner, maybe a little more menacing.

Next project is to figure out why the driver's side tail-light doesn't sit properly. The lip on the fender side sticks out about 3/16" of an inch and it bugs the crap out of me. Just noticed it today. I pulled the light and found that one of the tabs was already broken off, so maybe a new light would sit better if this one was incorrectly positioned and then torqued down for a while. Luckily it looks like replacements aren't all that expensive, so I may just try that.
