Here is some snaps of the GT-R button and the Grille. Just did the middle two to have a more subtle approach (plus I wanted to be a bit different); I also thought it blended with the chrome in the headlights nicely. It's a bit hard to tell from the pictures so I'll try to get some better ones when I can. Debating on doing the chrome infiniti emblem black as well but I think it might make too much of a black hole appearance in the middle of the grille.

So far, after every time I finish a mod she goes into the garage and inspects my work and is generally pleased with the changes made. She especially liked the black vinyl emblem . But there was a bit of an eye roll when she saw the red GT-R button on the redwood and stone interior lol
I got the same eye roll about the gtr button as well! hahaha. Later I decided to get a modded stock one and it looks x100 better, imo.
Also, if you don't have a wheel cover yet, get Ryne to do yours with custom stitching. His work is legit and woman loooooves the extra girth. hehe.
Once I started doing a few small things here and there, she went de-badge crazy and removed a bunch of crap from the back and dipped the chrome spoiler. I'm not going to argue with that.

I'm in the same boat with "convincing." The key is to take it slow and make her think these "upgrades" are mostly preventative measures so the car lasts longer..
Yea, not sure how long this will last, but I'm gon' ride it out until I can't no mo'.

I believe I saw someone with the modded stock button so it had a soft blue hue instead of the white color. I really liked it but being I just out the red in I'm going to hold off and let that soak in a bit. Also, I read someone looking into a M45 button for our car but it never seemed like they pulled the trigger on it. That would look really nice along with the M45 shifter if it could be fitted or the Qx60 shifter 2016+ would be awesome. Any idea if this can be done? What do you mean by wheel cover? Haven't seen that mentioned yet. I'll do a search now on it but can you post a pic of yours? Thanks!

Yea, I have the blue center with different color leds for acc / on / and whatever the 3rd one is. It works so much better with the rest of the interior since I don't have anything else in red.

Not sure about Ms or Qs buttons / shifters. Check the tech section, but otherwise you might be the guinea pig.

I don't have any latest pics of mine (yep, slacking, and never home during sunlight because of work), but check out this thread.

This is what led me to looking for a 2012 or newer to avoid any issues. So you ended up sticking with them? Thought you might have switched brands given your Avatar.
Not prying at all, I'm not shy to talk about it. I was a very brand loyal Nissan/Infiniti guy since 91. Many cars and trucks. It pissed me off not only that they offered me absolutely nothing as far as helping me out with the problem but they dismissive way that they went about it. After spending over $250K on new Nissans and Infinitis over almost 25 years they completely left me in the cold. I returned the favor by selling the wife's 2009 G sedan after getting the issue fixed and replacing it with a 2015 Lexus GS 350 F Sport exactly like the one pictured in my avatar. She absolutely loves it; so much more than the G. She's done with Nissan/Infiniti for good and I don't blame her. So hopefully the $1800 or so that they didn't spend on customer goodwill fixing her car outweighs the $55K she spent in the new Lexus and will probably spend again every 4 or 5 years.

For now I still have Black Betty, my 08 Coupe sitting in the driveway but I seldom ever drive her. I'm not actively looking to sell her but for the right offer I'll part with her. And likely replace it with another car that's not an Infiniti.

I know the struggle brother. I'm out the door by 5-530 a.m. and home at 5:30-6 p.m...

I'd consider guinea pigging if the piece wasn't $150.00 lol; but I have been described as "headstrong" so maybe I'll take a crack at it eventually.

Wow that wheel is really nice quality. I'll send him a PM on pricing to see what I'm looking at. So he makes the wheel then sends to you so there is no down time? I'm curious to find out more about that since the G is my DD....can't really go without it for a week or so.

Yep, the only downtime is you swapping the wheel. @Ryne will return the "core deposit" after he receives yours. He has DIYs on how to easily swap them too. Took me an hour or so ... while waiting to make sure the juice is out, drinking a beer, and walking back and forth to get multiple tools (because I don't learn the first time to grab everything).
Lots of members here had their wheels wrapped by him and I haven't heard of a single dissatisfied customer. He also adds extra padding in a few places. It's a great looking and feeling wrap with quality stitching.

Yea, it will be interesting to see what options come along with the stone / biege interior

Wow man that is stone cold especially after years of loyalty. That would make me honestly sick knowing I've supported a brand like that and they give you the cold shoulder over a 2k dollar repair. My dad went through a similar experience with BMW. Not so much them not standing behind their product but my step mother had a 2000 325Ci that was a weekend driver really. She maybe put 80,000 miles on it in the 12 years she had it but right at 43k her engine blew. Mind you my dad is religious about maintenance and had nobody but BMW perform the service (had Jiffy do it one time, different vehicle, and he regretted it....another story). He gets it fixed, then at 65+K miles her trans took the long nap. Needless to say, BMW quality is not looked highly upon at my father's house. My mom is having a similar issue with her 2016 C300. Had to have the entire top half of the engine replaced already but at least it was covered under warranty. Car has spent easily 3 months in the shop in the 7-8 she has had it. My step father's 2012 C300 was also starting to slip at 80K miles before trading it in. Could go on about my experience with Mazda but I digress...

How do you think you'd compare the Lexus to the Infiniti if the bad blood wasn't there? I was bouncing between the IS350 and the G37 but it came down to circumstances changing when I was buying my home. $5,000 cheaper, 10-15,000 fewer miles, and the G seemed to have the larger after market support. Say what you will though, the Lexus is a sexy looking car. I prefer it over the G slightly (much more than the Q) but I liked the "rawness" of the G's drive and the interior slightly more than the Lexus. If my budget didn't shrink that choice might've been a bit tougher but I really enjoy the G. I have already noticed that the dealerships seem to be a bit standoffish because when I called to get the car looked at for the possible auto trans update, they wanted 100-150 just to look at the vehicle and stated my basic warranty was out of date....despite this being a power train related concern...How would you describe the customer treatment with Lexus? Any better or about on par? My fiance is actually interested in the Lexus NX so I'd like to put her in one in the next year or two. She currently drives a Mazda CX 5 which has been solid...so far. I know the Lexus is kind of her dream car so it's nice to see that was where you went to immediately after the Infiniti experience.

The Lexus is my wife's car but I do drive it. I can make an objective comparison. I know that all Nissan and Infiniti products aren't garbage, I drove them happily for decades. The VG was a phenomenal engine in it's time. Other than the timing gasket issue I've really enjoyed the VQHR too. But I'm not too thrilled with the customer service.

We have had the GS for a year now. We do both like the Lexus better in many ways. This isn't quite an apples to apples comparison, the GS 350 is 6 model years newer than her G and more comparable to the Q70 than the G37/Q60. It has a better ride. Much more refined. Worlds better interior fit and finish. Better luxury features. Quieter. The 8 sped auto is immeasurably better than the 5 or 7 speed Infiniti gearbox, although our G37 had a manual transmission. The navigation system is much better in every way, but the G we had had the older crappier version. Bluetooth/USB integration is better. Real world fuel economy is better. Better HVAC system. More comfortable seats. Better headlights. The center console user interface for sound/HVAC/computer is better even though it isn't a touchscreen. TPMS is better. It looks and feels a lot more like a luxury car than our Infiniti. I don't deal whit them much, but the dealership experience at Lexus has been hands down better. More knowledgeable, more professional, more upscale. My Infiniti dealership wasn't bad at all, but it was like a Nissan dealership with nicer floor tile and salespeople in better shoes. The Lexus dealership is top notch and act like they know that they are selling an upscale luxury product. Not in a snobby way, but in how they go about their business of dealing with you as a consumer. That could also simply be the difference between one dealership owner group and another.

Where is the G better? Slightly better acceleration although with the GS in Sport S+ mode it's pretty close. Slightly better handling, but ditto the comment before about Sport S+ making it much sportier and quicker at the expense of a little ride quality. Call those two about even, too close to call. The G engine and exhaust note sounds much better to my ears at least. The Lexus 6 cylinder is direct injected and the engine has a ticking sort of sound when idling that is normal. Maintenance cost was a little lower on the G37 but not by a lot. The G seemed to have more front seat head room. Exterior styling goes tot he G37 IMO.

Thanks for the insight. You mentioned you still own a G coupe; looking to leave the brand as well or sticking with them? I'd be interested in checking out your build thread if you have one. The G37 is my first "luxury" vehicle despite my parents owning a couple and me driving them from time to time. It's slightly hard for me to compare but the G37 7AT is by far one of the worst feeling transmissions I have ever dealt with. My Mazda's 4AT slipped like crazy but did so for over 30K miles and I knew when it was going to happen. The G just has that shock from time to time and it is nowhere consistent so I can anticipate it. I'm legitimately leery of the thing. My fiance's CX5 on a cold start shifts cleaner. The only comfort I've seen is that it is normal for the gearbox and people don't seem to be reporting a ton of mechanical failures regarding it. Oddly enough, the shifts got a little smoother for "d" and "DS" but when in "manual" mode it is unbearable the shifts are so jerky and delayed. Did the Acura brand ever enter the picture or did you go straight to Lexus? Sorry about the 21 questions but I had a couple bad experiences with Mazda which led to my enormous distrust of dealerships; Infiniti is already rubbing me the wrong way. I've been trying to find a company I could feel good about building a repertoire with and being that the next purchase would be for my fiance I'd like for her to be able to walk in to a dealership for service and not get taken advantage of. Case in point - Her last service at Mazda with her Mazda3, before we traded it in, they concluded she needed new tires and brakes. Mind you, the tires were brand new with less than 5k miles on them and I replaced the pads the weekend prior when I did my Lancer...Needless to say I had a field day that day with the service dept.

No build thread for me. It's just a few things here and there, not many of mods that are very popular here.

I still have my car but I don't drive it much anymore. I haven't sold it yet but I'm sure I will at some point. I haven't put 1000 miles on it in the last 18 months. I'm not sure what'll be next. I think I want an old project jeep to work on and fix up. Maybe a late 60's or early 70's muscle car. I have an F150 SuperCrew company vehicle that I drive daily for work and most weekends. I'll get a new one this year.

AS far as my next new "nice" car, I'm open to whatever comes along that moves me. I'll drive the Cadillac ATS-V at some point and see if I like it. I like the AMG C63. Maybe the Audi S5 coupe or sportback coming in 2018. If I'm going to drive an unreliable luxury car, it's going to be a really luxurious, high performance luxury car.

That's the spirit! Can't go wrong with any of those choices. My dad went the muscle car route with the '69 and he seems to really enjoy it. Body and engine were in top notch shape along with the interior. He's been upgrading everything else though. New cooling system, carb, some interior stuff, re-wired a few things but all in all they're simple projects.

He also completely rebuilt a '78 Spitfire Triumph 1500 that he's been working on for YEARS. Funny (kinda) back story. He originally got it for my (step)sister when she was 13 and planned to have it done when she was 16-18 so he could give it as a graduation present. So he gets the car and goes to a car show for early British models with my step-mom and a family friend who also owns a British sports car; hoping to meet vendors, get ideas, etc. As they're walking they meet a really nice guy in a wheel chair who starts giving them TONS of good info on the 1500, vendors, issues to look for etc. After parting ways, my dad turns to the family friend and says how helpful that was and he wonders how the guy hurt himself. Family friend states the guy was in a horrific car crash. My dad asks what he was driving....Answer:Spitfire 1500. That's all it took for my step mother to kill that plan. It wasn't in vain though, when I got into cars about 8 years ago i started helping my dad rebuild it and he took the reins after I moved out and ran with it. I'll try to get some pics posted my next visit for giggles.

Holy crap RMB, our car-paths must have crossed in previous lives or something. My first ever brand-new-from-a-dealer car was a left-over '76 Triumph Spitfire we bought in 1977. I traded a '72 Porsche 914 in towards it that I had completely worn out and abused in my SCCA Solo 1 days. (Man do I wish I had THAT car now). A month after buying the Spitfire, my young wife and I were surprised with news of our first daughter coming along. We actually drove the Triumph for a year with the new baby until we traded it for our first ever 4-door car in '78. (some sort of Toyota that I can't even remember the model). Baby seat stuffed sideways behind the bucket seats, foot-locker on a luggage rack on the trunk, skis on a customized ski rack from the Porsche - we'd go anywhere in that thing.

Small world.

Wow, I can honestly say I've yet to meet another person who has any idea what I'm referencing when I drop that make and model. I started getting into cars when I had my Mazda but I really learned a lot of technical things from working on the Spit. I remember connecting the 4 speed trans to the engine and getting our *** kicked in the process lol. Also, running the break lines for that thing and categorizing everything after we moved. It was a deep dark green when my dad picked it up and it is a candy blue color now (step-sister's favorite color being it was supposed to be for her.). Nothing beats the look on my dad's face when we kicked her over for the first time.

Yea I bet you did! That Porsche was a hit when it was released(914/4?). My dad was always a Honda guy and had a Prelude when my brother and I were younger. I remember cramming into the back of that car along with my mom's Geo Tracker ha ha. I decided to spare any future children with the 4-doors....for now
