Newbie here, just got a 2010 G37X Coupe!

Just bought a 2010 G37 Coupe not too long ago, waiting to pick it up tomorrow morning!! I'm not usually a forum guy but I thought what the heck, this seems like an awesome community

I just have a couple of questions:

1. The guy said it was a Sport exhaust, is there any difference in appearance or sound compared to the Stock? I've never seen any other G37 coupes in person or heard how they sound to be honest lol. But from my experience listening to the cold start indoors, it is pretty darn loud! Also couldn't find any posts about it either

2. My father's a mechanic but I'm not sure if he'll know anything else specifically about G37's. Besides the minor scratches, everything seems pretty good to him. His coworker and him are gonna rustproof it for free later down the road when they have time, but is there anything else I should look out for for Infiniti's?

I'm pretty set for winter so far, got free winter tires from his work and getting a set of rims soon for winter

Thanks and have a nice day!

Edit: I didn't take any pictures of the rear view, but I found the picture the dealership uploaded to Autotrader: http://pictures.dealer.com/s/sampsfi...727cdb1574.jpg

Hey Bruce, welcome to the site & congrats on your new X coupe, looks like a nice one. Here's a youtube clip on the 2 exhaust types, might help w/ your question.

Guessing that's a sport accessory muffler, which is infiniti made, but does not come on sport versions of Gs. It's a bit confusing, which is why you probably had little luck with your search. Essentially it's an infiniti version of an aftermarket muffler.
There are also 2 stock mufflers - regular and IPL. IPL is sliiightly louder than stock, and sport is supposed to be noticeably louder than IPL.

iirc with pre-2011s there is a potential for some engine problem? Someone will need to confirm what it is exactly and if I got the year right. Visit the tech section for more details too - tons of useful info and I'm sure all the potential issues are spelled out in there pretty clearly.

Otherwise, these cars are pretty reliable. Keep up with the maintenance and it will treat you well for a long time.

Yeah, models prior to 2012 have an inferior rear timing cover (oil gallery) gaskets that cost in the $2k range to R&R, not inevitable but something to be aware of. Here's an epic thread on that https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-cou...xperience.html

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your G! The inferior tonic gasket issue with ore 2012 models is extremely rare but can happen. Infiniti mever fixed the issue until 2012 but don't even stress it out and keep up with regular maintenance.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! So I think it is the sport exhaust yay

And I think my dad told me about the engine leak, I'll look into that more when I get the chance. Thanks again!
