New G

Hey guys, I've been lurking on this site for about two months reading about all the good and bad of the G37. My 93 SC300 was rear ended back in May and my insurance provider decided it was a total loss. At that point I decided that the I would either buy a G35 or a G37. After reading some of the post on here it was an easy decision to go for the G37 and all of its upgrades. The next decision was color and model. I went on CarGuru and found a couple close to my area and went out and did a little window shopping. The first car I found was a 2009 G37x in black. It was love at first site and the price was right. I talked to the car brokers about it and let them know I was very interested, but needed a pre purchase inspection before purchase. They agreed, and I contacted the the Nissan dealership about 5 minutes away from their spot to setup an appointment. When I went back to test drive and take the car to the appointment I was told that the car had just sold the day before.

I began searching again and test drove a (vivid?) blue G37s I almost bought it, but I really didn't want that color. So I held off and about a week later I found this:

sorry about the picture quality

It's a 2008 G37s. I had it checked out and so far everything is ok. I already bought the complete set of owner manuals because it only came with the navigation manual. I plan on doing the rear LED blinker mod soon. Actually that was my first post. I have also purchased the GTR shift **** and will install that when it arrives. I was thinking about either refinishing the brushed aluminum accents on the doors or going with a carbon fiber wrap. I also need to refinish the bezel piece on the steering wheel because the paint is peeling. The only thing I don't have a clue about is the the shiny melting dash. I might stop by a local custom shop just to see if they have any kind of cheap solution for that problem.

With all that being said I am a novice who decided to go all in so please be gentle.
I will try my best to use the search function first and then ask questions.

Welcome to the site, looks like a nice S coupe you found. Look forward to what you've got planned. How many miles on your SC?

Here's the pic of the melting dash. I also found some minor cracking around the vent near the door on both sides of the dash. The southern heat has not been kind to her, but she will be garage kept from now on.

I bought the SC when I returned from my last tour in Japan back in 2002. She currently has 269,578 or so miles on her. She is still drivable
and all the damage is mostly cosmetic. I need to check to see if the frame is bent underneath though. When I took her to the collision center they only took pictures of the cosmetic damage and determined that fixing the two small creases behind the rear wheel wells and the rental car service would exceed the market value of the car.

Other things that I noticed or were pointed out

The rotors were upgraded and the front driver side rim has some curb rash. The rims are ok i guess. I know nothing about rims and would have been just fine with stock. I'm sure all that will change as G fever kicks in.

I found these in the trunk and I don't think they work. The power line had no fuse at or near the battery. The Fosgate T1000-4ad smells like burnt plastic. I have no clue what the other fosgate unit is. I thing it is some kind of sound processor( it says remote tuning module?). Currently only the rear speakers and the dash speaker put out any sound. So I will have to take her to a audio sound shop and see what damage the previous owner did. I hope the amp can be refurbished because that is a nice free amp I didn't even see that stuff until after I purchased the car. It was in between the rear trunk mats. I just lifted the mat to see if it had a spare and to make sure there was no water damage in the trunk.

I also have two additional fobs that are from Viper. I had the car parked outside with the keys in my pocket and I heard the car cranking up. That's when I figured out the previous owner had installed a remote starter kit. The car would only attempt to crank and never actually started. Now I have to search under the dash, figure out what unit it is, and get the owners manual for that. I think I am going to be real busy and broke the remainder of the summer
