How to clean Brakes

Hi everyone, i am a new 2009 g37 sedan owner and am trying to do some touch up cleaning. It looks like the brakes are pretty dirty and wanted to know the easiest way to get some of the dirt/grime off. Is it easiest to just use a brake cleaning spray and wash that off or would you need to take the wheel off and get up close? I tried searching but could not find anything, I am a newb in most things cars so don't be too harsh haha. I can take a picture tommorrow if necessary

Welcome to the site, glad you found us.
It's best to use brake cleaner after removing the wheels, it's does a nice job when you have the room to let it work, a good spray w/ a 3m scotchbrite pad should do a good job. The brake pad backing plates and moving metal parts may have caliper grease applied so I'd try to keep the spray from removing that grease in those areas.
