Not a new G owner.............yet
Seriously thinking of getting a G37 & while doing some research came across
this forum. I'll be rummaging around here for a while looking for information to help me get the right one. What to look out for and what to avoid etc. Won't be posting a lot at least not at first mainly searching for information.
already found out to watch out for water leaks with the sunroof, hopefully it is somewhat isolated to a few cars. In any case I'll be hanging around.

Hi Jim, welcome to the site. One thing to be aware of is the rear timing cover gaskets have been prone to failure on models earlier than 2012. If you're considering a 2012 or newer you'll be fine as those gaskets have been upgraded to metal lined gaskets. The earlier gaskets were just paper. The cost of this repair is in the $2000 dollar range so it's good to know beforehand.

Wait...did you say REAR timing cover one more thing I learned

Thanks!!! That's exactly the type of info I'm looking for. I've been looking at '12s & '13s so I won't bother looking at older ones. I'm retiring next year and need to replace my company, ahem, van. It will mainly be used for pleasure perhaps a track day or two.

And I'll pretend I didn't see that "van", lol.
Thanks for clarifying that for me. I had visions of pulling the motor to replace those gaskets and couldn't for the life of me figure out what kind of timing would be going on in the back of the engine but still 18 hours! is that flat rate or actual hours?

Well we can do away with the "yet"
Got one a week ago a 2013 Journey sedan with 11k miles!
I am still re-calibrating my driving inputs they are a lot different than the old Tacoma......to say the least.
I'll probably do a couple of mods not sure which ones after wheels.
Might do a track day or 2 to find out what the limits are, don't know which I'll find first the car or mine. I will be hanging out here a bit looking for advice & ideas.

Felt a little guilty just lurking around. But, this truly seems to be the one place I end up for any G related info. So, I joined about a week ago. The natural progression lead me to a purchase of my own. Glad to have more new blood on board!
