Painted wheels on Graphite Shadow G37s Sedan

I am considering getting my OEM wheels painted on my G37s Sedan. The body color is Graphite Shadow and I was thinking of a gunmetal grey for the wheels. What are your opinions and do you have any pictures of this combination?

Also, would you recommend powder coating the wheels? What is the benefits of having them powder coated? Thanks!

Gunmetal will look nice IMO, will blend well but won't pop like a black or bronze. Powdercoating is a very hard & resilient finish, it is brittle though, so if you happen to curb your wheels it can come off in large chips compared to paint.

I...umm...changed the color of my stock wheels. I won't use the "P" word, so the delicate flowers aren't unduly upset.

Black with gunmetal, I really like the way it turned out...

These are obviously aftermarket wheels, but it gives you an idea of the Graphite Shadow with gunmetal wheel color combination.

maybe some downsides/danger to powder coating wheels. may reduce structural integrity and be dangerous.

"Exposing a forged aluminum alloy to 375 degrees for 30 minutes can have a negative effect on the strength of the alloy. It will "over-age" the alloy and begin the annealing process. DO NOT DO IT. You will no longer know how strong your wheels are.
Since forged wheels are usually weight optimized for the vehicle, reducing their strength is unwise.
Most wheel companies, and Porsche, will void the warranty on the wheels if you refinish them.
As for chroming, don't do that either. The chroming process causes embrittlement of the alloy, weakening it and making it susceptible to damage under high load."

OEM G37 wheels are not forged.

i'm no expert on the subject - just throwing that out there. i've seen the same warnings for cast wheels, too.

i'd do some research if i were thinking about PC'iing some wheels, though.

I like the color of your wheels. What was the name of the color? I was looking into getting my wheels done and there seems to be 20 different shades of gunmetal.

Is "20 shades of gunmetal" the sequel to "50 shades of grey"?

It feels that way trying to decide on a color using 4x4 inch color samples.
