New Owner!!!

Just wanted to say hello...... I finally traded in my old car after 8+ years. I picked up my used 2012 G37xSport just a few days ago. I'm really love'n this car. Very awesome car for sure. This is my first Infiniti. I've been reading up on these cars and just really can't say enough good things about this car. I stopped looking for anything else after I drove like 5 different ones. I got what I think was a pretty sweet deal on this car. It only had 29k miles on it and I got it for $24k. I've already added the wrap warranty so I'm set for 96mo/120k miles 0 ded from first in service date. Someone already did a few modifications to this car as the interior has updated wood accents, more than the factory does. I got 26.5 mpg on the way back from the Chicago dealership. And I've been getting around 24.5 mpg in last few days. I drive mostly highway miles to work.

Thanks. It is great to have others with similar interests.

Yep, I've already got plans but I am going to have to see how the brakes hold up for me. I'm very hard on brakes so the first upgrade will most likely be the "Akebono - big brake kit". I upgraded my last car to the Baer D/S brakes and they worked excellent for me. I only had to change them twice in 8+ years.

Cold air intake - either K&N Typhoon or Stillen Gen 2 Long tube. I'm just not sure which one to go with at this point. I'd like to do this one for the extra sound from the engine.

GTSPEC Front Strut Brace

Rear roof wing spoiler

Front Lip - Carbon Fiber lip is the add-on that I'm most interested in at this point.

Rear diffuser; carbon fiber

Just to name a few things that I'm looking at to do when money and time allows. I'm sure I'm getting ahead of myself at this point.

Welcome to the forums. Sounds like a good start to the car. For the Aekbono BBK upgrade, I just did that last weekend. Note that if you go with StopTech SS braided brake lines...you will need to do some "fiddling" around to get it to sit right where it won't pinch/rub either on the rotor or the bolt that's attaching it to the suspension. Either way, sounds awesome and I can tell you just from the little bit I've driven mine since the upgrade...you'll love it. The looks alone are awesome...but the extra bite from the StopTech pads...delicious. Not sure what you'll end up going with for rotors/pads but I went with StopTech slotted rotors and StopTech Street Performance pads. Cheers!

Thanks for the info on the brakes. I'm planning on going with S/D Rotors and Hawk HPS pads. I've had the Hawk's previously and really liked how they held up and performed for me. I'll most like go with the SS lines as well so good to know about "fiddling". The jump in performance on my last car when I did this upgrade was 1000% completely worth it so I know I will but just have to find the time and money now. Things are pretty busy right now so it will be a few months.

Why did you pick the StopTech pads over the Hawk?

Thanks for all the welcomes to the site. I've been happy so far with the vehicle. It is in the shop today getting a few minor things fixed. It was supposed to be a CPO vehicle so I didn't figure I'd have it in the shop already but hopefully they are all minor / quick fixes. And not a sign of what is to come, I'm happy that I got the 96mo extended warranty.

My first plan is to see how well the brakes hold up for me. If I need to switch them out, I'm currently looking at either the Akebono or AdamRotors BBK.

Then the CAI either Stillen G2 or K&N Typhoon.

Yes, the front chin I'd like to get is the Carbon fiber. I really like the look of this. Especially with the black grill and black lettering I've got on mine.

Brian, good luck w/ your issues, hopefully everything is minor.

As far as a BBK, about $1500 give or take but at least you have wheels that will clear them so one less expense. If you go w/ an Adams BBK, it's a Stoptech setup and those run about 2 to3x the Akebono price. Wilwood also makes a BBK that's about in the middle of the two kits price wise
Wilwood High-Performance Disc Brakes - 2009 Infiniti G37 4 Door, Except Brembo Brakes

AS far as intakes, both sets you listed are Short Ram setups, for a true CAI you'd need the Gen 3, Takeda, or Injen SP. If you indeed want a short ram, the R2C and Injen SRI are a couple other options.

Thanks for the extra info.

Yep, I'm leaning more towards the Akebono kit currently. I haven't totally investigated the AdamRotors BBK full price yet so that is good to know.

I'm not seeing a big gain for the extra effort of the G3 intake so I'm not a fan of the extra work to get the G3 installed. The Gen2 seems like a good start. I'll check out the other brands as well. I've seen them listed around but the Stillen or K&N seem much more popular. An old friend had the K&N on a G35 and that's the direction I'm thinking at this point. But I like the look of the Stillen installed better. Not that one the hood is shut it makes a difference.
