Newb, a few questions
Newb, a few questions
Hi all,
I need out of my '12 Sonata 2.0T and seriously looking at a CPO'd G37x Sport.
I really like this one: Used 2012 Infiniti G37x For Sale | Denver, Dacono, Colorado l Rickenbaugh Infiniti
Does this '12 look like it has all of the options?
Does the '12 have LED tail lights? I can't find out when the tail lights became LED.
Does the DBALL remote start (uses factory fob) work for 2012 and 2013?
Can you scan through the XM Sat. presets via the steering wheel? Can you also change through the channels via the steering wheel? My Sonata only allows you to scan through each channel, must use the buttons on the center dash for presets which is annoying!
Looking at the CarFax, car was sold in 08/2012. The CPO warranty should last until 08/2016 or 84K miles (6yr/100k). Is this the same as the factory warranty? Is there a deductible? Any negatives with the Infiniti CPO warranty?
Lastly, what changes were done from 2012 to 2013?
I think that's it. Great forum here, hope to join the club soon

Welcome to the forum, all good questions. I've got a 2012 sport non-AWD
It really depends what you mean by "all the options." You got the sport package, but the sport package means different things when you get it on an AWD vs a non-AWD. For example, for my non-awd G37, the sport package gives me the big brake kit, larger pistons, staggered 19" wheels, tighter steering ratios, tighter suspension, a rear limited slip differential, paddle shifters, a specific front bumper, aluminum live and dead pedals, and tighter bolstering on the seats.
The G37xS will leave behind all the performance parts of the sport package. You won't get a big brake kit, or the tightened steering/suspension. You can aftermarket all that stuff, but there's no sedan AWD package that will come with that stuff.
You're also missing the technology package, but I think that most of us here opted not to get that. It gives you things like active cruise control, and all wheel steering (AWS).
It's not a bad car, with nice, low miles.
The G37 has had LED taillights for a very long time, so yes you've got it. You can install the DBALL aftermarket remote start, there's a thread dedicated to that here. You can find it by searching.
Yes, you can flip through six XM channels on the steering wheel on one channel. You can use the "source" button on the steering wheel to flip to an additional XM2 channel, with another six presets.
I'm not going to talk about warranties and suchlike because that's not my forte.
There weren't that many changes from 12->13. The big changes came from 10-11, I think, when they swapped out for the new sport wheels and a few other tweaks.

Thanks!
Forgot about the Tech Package, never see it on any of the cars in my searches. You're right, won't be missing that. I'd like the lighted door sills and mood light kit, but I believe those can be added later.
Sucks about the AWD Sport missing out on the good stuff, but I need AWD up in the mountains. I've missed it greatly these past two years with my Sonata! Just had a foot of snow last week even! Going to try to test drive it this week. Not a lot of X Sports available!
Does the tire monitoring system tell you individual tire PSI or just gives you a warning if one tire is low and you must hunt it down?

G37XS's include the paddle shifters.
I've done the snow tires before on my old 2006 Magnum R/T AWD, had a set of Blizzaks. Problem is, the snow melts quickly, so usually only dealing with a messy commute into work. The snow tires suck so much with spirited driving, it's a waste for the 3 weeks of snow packed roads during the year. I'd rather drive smartly for those 3 weeks with a good AS and not feeling like my tire are going to fold over when going around some S curves at 60mph. . The AWD is a must to get going in the mountains, too many inclines. I live at 8'500' and commute daily to almost 10,000'.
It's not the cost that bothers me (you make it up by not putting miles on your summer/as tires), just the feel and performance negatives when the roads are dry that is an issue. There are some really good AS tires out there that stop pretty good on slick surfaces. I have the Continental DWS on my Sonata and it made a world of a difference.

X owners, do you like the AWD system?
A little worried it's always in RWD until slippage is detected. So if I'm going 50MPH on some snow packed roads, I'll be in RWD? Or is the system smart enough to know the road is slippery and the front axle will be engaged?
Looking at a CPO '12 G37xS, CPO '12 TL SH-AWD Tech, and a '13 SHO for my next car. Might include a '11 CPO 335xi, but reliability scares me. I'll also check out the new '15 WRX.

Mine does great in the snow also, but remember the X's still drive like a RWD as it drives RWD till the rears slip. you can still spin out if you are not smart about things
Found the CPO warranty details: https://owners.infinitiusa.com/iowne...ation/warranty
Looks like it's a powertrain warranty. Doesn't cover navigation, rattles, etc. A $50 deductible for every repair.
I believe the navi system/stereo is only covered for first 12mo/12k anyways. The main bumper 2 bumper warranty would still be good for 2 years/45k miles on the one I'm interested in.

Welcome to the site PM, you'll be loving that X compared to that Sonata for sure, the Sonatas are decent cars but the G is in another league. BTW, do you ever play cards at the Gilpin or Golden Gates up the hill? Had a blast in those rooms when I used to go to CO.
BTW, there's a thanks button in the lower right if you feel the need

I work in Cripple Creek, so played here usually. I played at the Lodge when I went north. Ameristar (or the Death Star) has taken all of the poker market up there, the place is crazy! 17 tables going non stop, hours+ wait list.
