New to the forum. Question about tires and shocks. Please advise.

I must say I'm glad that I found this forum. A lot of useful information coming from G37 enthusiasts all over. I've had my 2010 G37 sedan for a year and a half now and really loving the ride. First luxury car I ever owned . Bought her with 15,000 miles and she is at 35,000 miles now.

I'm not sure if my question belongs here but I recently brought my baby to TireChoice for an alignment and was told that my tires are cupping. I forgot to ask which tire(s) specifically. The guy said that it could be due to the lack of rotation or weak shocks . I get my tired rotated every 3750 miles when I bring it in for oil change. Is there any other reasons why the tires are wearing oddly like this? When should the struts be replaced (i guess this depends largely on the driving habit and road conditions)? I drive moderately most of the time (I really cherish my car ). I've heard of the bounce test to determine whether your struts have become weak but I sort of have my doubts about the accuracy of the test. Please advise and thanks in advance!

Welcome to the site, glad you finally found us. If those are the original tires then I'm sure they're close to the end of their useful tread life. Your miles are pretty low for strut related problems, it's possible you could have a problem there but over the internet is a tough way to determine
If you have the original tires I'd look into replacing them as I assume that when you took it for an alignment the alignment checked out OK.
BTW if you do replace the tires check w/ us first about good replacements, the stock tires are quite poor if you have the Goodyear RS-As.

Thanks for your reply. My tires actually have only about 22k miles on them. I bought them from the dealer after being told that 3 out of 4 tires have been punctured when I brought the car in for service. It was a rather strange coincidence since the dealer had a buy 3 get 1 free promotion at that time. Could the tire tread design have anything to do with the weird wearing pattern?

What brand and model tires do you have? If they're summer tires 22k miles is usually enough to kill them.

Welcome to the forum!

Have you had an alignment or received any service history with the car?

@blnewt My tires are from Hankook, the model is Ventus V4 ES. They look to have a lot of tread left so I'm unsure if the tires are the problem here.

@Nick C Thanks! I had an alignment done a few months ago. I brought it in again two weeks back and the alignment checked out just fine.
