New G from Chi-Town

What's up guys and gals. Had been looking into trading in my 08 Evo and after test driving, a BMW 328/335, Lexus IS 250, Benz 300c, and G37.....I ended up kinda obviously in a cpo 2011 G37x coupe with only 18K miles. I was a huge fan of the g35 so I had to go 37. Wanted an XS but couldn't find an XS coupe in IL. :/ But none the less I'm happy with my choice and I love my G. It's the *** that drew me in lol

I had been creeping the site for a couple weeks and decided to join. I've only had the G for about 2 weeks but already ordered my K&N CAI and looking into a front lip. Love the stock look but I saw a few more aggressive looking lips that look nice.

Where's my chicago people at? See you guys around....

Thanks guys good to be here... I was in the car scene, modding, car meets, etc, etc the first couple years when I had the evo but it's been a while. I ordered my K&N CAI, it's direct bolt on right? I'm asking because Ive seen posts about people having to take off bumpers, do some cutting and what not to install.

Also, I've looked a little and maybe I'll do a little more "googleing" but I want to find a front lip for the coupe.

What are reputable sites with good prices on AM parts for the G? Thanks....

As far as I know, K&N doesn't make a CAI. They make Short Ram intakes, I had a set of the Type 69 Typhoon series. They worked alright, but I've moved to Stillen Gen 3's since then. It is a direct bolt on, but you might want to remove your bumper. There's a plastic piece on each side that lets the stock airboxes mate to the radiator shroud and provide a seal. You need to take the bumper off to unbolt and remove those plastic pieces. It requires no cutting, but removing them will significantly increase the amount of airflow your intakes will see.

Other than that, all you'll need to do is fiddle with the breather hoses to make them mate up without kinking. They look nice, and pod filters make the engine bay look a lot cleaner, imo.

You can find vendors selling lips for various models here on the forum. Just use the search bar and you'll get lots of posts, review, and group buys. Stillen and Autokits-X are the main lip manufacturers that people seem to buy.

I say CAI because when I purchased that's what it was listed as and everywhere I search it says it's a CAI. But either way, thanks for the help. I wanted to go Stillen but heard it's not a direct bolt on and requires cutting of some sort.

I'll look into Autokits-x. Thanks.

I recently test drove a similar group of cars as you and ended up buying a new 2013 G37X from Infiniti of Clarendon Hills, in Illinois. I was also considering going XS but I am a fan of the 2008-2010 sport model's appearance and that is exactly what the new non-sports were face lifted to. I am also not complaining about the comfortable ride quality as it is my DD.

Tinley Park is very close, I am sure we'll see each other driving around sooner or later. Same goes for me with the G35. I have always loved that car but I need something that I can feel comfortable driving around in the snow to work every day. I actually saw a lot of 335's when I was looking that had lemon titles due to the HPFP. It's hard to tell what color you have in the pics, LP? MW?

Yea mine is my dd so i had the same mentality. I wanted the x because of our winters. I actually really liked the 335 I drove. It was awd and diesel. Lots more torque than our g's but overall the g37 was the best for me. And I got a hell of a deal so I couldnt pass it up.

My g is LP. I actually wanted a white one but couldn't pass up the deal on this one.
