Newbie, sold my M5 and bought a G37x
Hello,
Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Craig and I just bought a '09 G37x this past Saturday. My last fun car was an E60 M5. I don't have any pics yet of the G so I thought I'd post a couple of my M5 along with a vid.

I'm already looking at replacing the catback on the G37. Looks like I have a lot of reading to do....

Not sure if we're long lost brothers (looking at our screen names) but welcome to the forum! I'm sure the M5 was a beast of a car- both in performance and maintenance!!!
Congrats on the purchase. Car sounds good, was that eisenmann exhaust? @daonlyillwiz those cars are a nightmare to own out of factory bmw warranty. Aftermarket etc is garbage, I have two friends who own m5's who know all too well what it feels like to be without their cars for extended periods of time.

Congrats on the new G, having owned an 02 745Li I too can attest to outrageous repair bills and driving a car not knowing if you're going to reach your destination can get a bit unnerving
Very nice M5 I must say, hopefully your experience w/ that one was better than some of us

haha I figured as much, i have a friend who owns a 05 v12 S600 and had to replace 2 coils...it came out to $1500. So yea i can see how it would be expensive w/o a warranty
Thanks guys, the M5 was a blast to own, I wish I never sold it. I would've never bought it if I wasn't purchasing an aftermarket warranty as well. For all the time that I owned it I only had two issues that happened at the same time. One of the motors in the driver's side active seat went out, and the sensor pad on the passenger seat went out too. Total cost to fix: $6k. My out of pocket cost: $100 deductible. My car was out of the dealer in two days.
Wow lucky you man, one of my buddies, had his smg pump go, oil cooler, clutch, and I can't even remember the rest. But the car is definitely a blast, m-mode with the gearing at s6, traction off.... that is pure heaven right there, but you better be ready when that back starts twitching lol. I'm sure you had fun.

Right now I'm looking into a full cat-back exhaust and maybe a tune. If I decide to keep it for a while, I might even go twin turbo.
The majority of that cost was for the active seats motor on one of the bolsters. Google "M5 active seats" to see what I mean. Once you've experienced active seats on a road course, you'll be spoiled and never want anything else again.
