2009 G37S Basic questions

Hey guys!
This is my first sports coupe... ever! So I have a couple newbie questions to keep my new lady in great condition! It's a white 2009 G37S coupe manual.
1. If I'm just driving around town (not speedin around), what is the best RPM range to shift in? My father has a BMW Z3 and he always keeps the RPMs at 3k or higher.

2. I love this car. I want to take care of it like my baby. What are some daily, weekly, monthly upkeep things I can do to keep it running and looking great?

Thanks!

I do weekly washes with three bucket method. alot of people do two but I just don't see why and how...

1.) Start with spraying wheels with water to knock off loose dirt

2.) Bucket 1 consists of tire soap, wash mit, lug nut brush, wheel barrel brush

3.) Bucket 2 consists of clean water with grit guard for cleaning off brake dust from the tools. Leave tools in bucket 1 and put aside for dirt to suspend to the bottom while you work on the body

4.) Wash bucket 2 very well and start with bucket 3 with microfiber wash mitt

5.) I use chemical guys car wash soap. 1 cap size full for body and 1/3 of an inch of soap in my Gilmore foam gun

then followed by this awesome video of how to do your body

leave tools in bucket 3 and put aside for dirt to suspend to the bottom while you work on drying the body

6.) After drying I use meguiar's ultimate spray wax and go around the whole car and windows, followed by a clean microfiber to buff off the excess.

7.) Since I like the waxy feeling i use the same microfiber towel that I applied spray wax on the body onto my wheels. Followed by tire gel

Whoa, thanks Chris! I live in the city so washing my car by hand is impossible. I normally take it to a detail place every week or two. It's not too expensive ($30). I tried one of those gas station car washes last week. It made me feel better, but i didn't like the pressure washing and spray wax... I think Jane (myG) deserves better haha.

When you drive your G, if it's manual, where do you keep the RPMs? I've been keeping them in the high 2000's low 3000's.
