I bought a 2009 G37 Sedan on January 1. I recently had the following problems with the car and would like forum insight on causes, reliability, etc.:
- the engine idle fluctuated between normal and about 1500 RPM causing the car to "surge" as I drove slowly out of the parking deck
- the transmission shifted VERY abruptly between 1 and 2 and 2 and 3

I called the dealer and took it in. The next day they said they did a engine control module and trans software upgrade. Within 1/2 mile of the dealer it was acting MUCH worse, shifting hard, refusing to shift from 3 to 4 up to 3k RPM, surging ,etc. I took it back and they called today and said they replaced the cam position sensor. The car has 50,700 miles on it and has had the cam position sensor replaced before at 26k miles.

I'm a little concerned. Any thoughts on causes, chronic issues, etc.? I really like the car but now I'm anxious about these issues.
