Hello and Help!

I am the proud owner of a 2012 G37S sedan. Graphite shadow. I am loving it so far and have already upgraded the exhaust to the Tanabe axle back exhaust. I really liked the looks of that system but wanted a little more "bite", it sounded almost stock... so I went back to the same shop that installed the Tanabe system and they suggested a Y-pipe (Megan Racing) and removing the resonators... BIG MISTAKE! Idling it sounded great, I thought that was exactly what the doctor ordered, but by the time I had driven it home, I realized I had made a huge mistake! Too raspy and too much cabin drone for my liking... I went back the next morning but they had tossed the OEM resonators. Should I go and buy OEM resonators to replace the ones I had removed erroneously or is there an aftermarket resonator that would give a nice mellow tone without being too obnoxious or raspy... I searched and found some of you guys have tried Magnaflow resonators... but I haven't found any particular model numbers or ones to try. Thank you in advance for your help!

Well, I thought I was just going to do the Tanabe axle backs and be done with it, but I was a little underwhelmed with the sound of the exhaust... it was so close to stock I could barely tell a difference, so I figured one more little tweak and the Y pipe was $175 so I figured thats not too bad... but I should have stopped while I was ahead. I think the mistake was having the resonators removed... So yeah, unfortunately I have spent a lot of money ruining it

Yeah, I really like the color... it was a tough decision between the Graphite Shadow and the Blue Slate. They had a black on black S in the showroom that was beautiful... but I have owned that color combo before and it was a pain to keep clean. I went with the Megan Racing because I was impatient and I had to wait 10 days for the Tanabe, and I figured it wouldnt be that much difference... I really think removing the resonators is what is causing the drone and raspiness (is that even a word?) that I don't like.

I added HFC's, kept the stock Y & Mid-Pipe and my Tanabe axle back sound sick!
No drone, some rasp but not too bad. I love it

Perhaps a fellow forum member has a stock mid-pipe they could sell you?

I was able to find a oem resonator on craigslist locally, so I had them put back on this morning... I was really considering the magnaflow resonators, but I couldn't find enough information about them to make me want to experiment with my new car again after the resonator removal disaster. Anybody have any experience with the Magnaflow resonators?
