Just picked up a 2009 G37x in slate blue

Hi guys.

I'm a noob to these parts, but I just picked up a G37x and figure I can benefit from the knowledge here. I was coming from a fully loaded 2003 BMW 540i which I loved dearly and will miss--its a hard act to follow, but I think the G was the smart choice for what I wanted to spend.

I skimped on some of the options to stay in budget, so my car is basically base. No nav/backup cam, stock sound, etc.

Looking forward to getting to know some of you and learning more about my car.

Fred

Welcome! Glad to see another coming from a 540i -- I had a '94 540i that I loved before I got my G. In comparison, I found that the G has significantly better acceleration than my 540i did (though I'm sure some things may have changed between '94 and '03!) but I do miss some of the 540's torque when accelerating hard at highway speeds. That car was made for highway cruising. Overall, I think you'll be pleased with your choice; I know I was (am.)

Don't feel as though your car is just a base car. Even in its basic form, the G37 is well appointed. And you have an "x", the awd system borrowed from the $90k GTR, which most reviewers have stated is the nicest automatic tranny performance awd system made. Nice pick-up. Looking for an x myself, I'm jealous.

Welcome. Congrats on the car. You planning on modding or no?
