Smile almost there....

hey guys...this is my first post here but I've been on the site for about half a year now and i gotta say the site and all your guys' mods are insane. my name is andrew and i live on long island in new york. I'm 16 now, but my birthday is in february. my dad sells cars, he actually owns his used car business in bellmore, ny. having seen this site for a while, I've seen a lot of people are from long island and know about massapequa infiniti, my dad is just down the street from there on sunrise highway. ok so, I've been raised around cars and they're a huge part of my life. obviously i get my license soon, and ill get my junior license by early January(cause i have to finish drivers ed, I'm in 11th grade). although I'm only 16, I've been driving for a couple years on my dads work property and stuff and around my neighborhood. i probably am the best 16 year old driver there is considering all my experience over the years in any car u can imagine in any kind of weather. so on his lot, he always has at least 2 g35s or g37s, different trims(x,s,coupe, sedan) all the time. over the years, this has become my favorite car. i can honestly say I'm addicted to it and every time i go there i drive that thing like there's no tomorrow......it is my favorite car......in the world. I've narrowed my car choices down to 4 cars. obviously, at number 1, is an 08-09 g35,g37 sedan. i would take the coupe but i need room for friends cause I'm gonna be one of my first friends to get a car. coming in at number 2, you got the almighty cadillac cts-v(yes i know how to drive stick, thats what i learned on) . i would have to take an 06-08 cause those are really expensive. then the dodge challenger r/t or srt8, and the dodge charger r/t or srt8. I've driven all of those cars(pretty good for a 16 year old right? lol) and honestly i would take any one in a heartbeat. I'm just wondering if you have any opinions on this and if u think i should go with any specific one or if u think I'm out of my mind like my parents...hahaha...well...thanks for reading i guess...and even if i don't get the g35/37, which will devastate me, ill still be on this awesome site....

Note to self......don't buy used car from ny, cause a 16yr old may of had a field day in it. Lol

Anyways it determines your peak interest of what u want in a car, if you're a richie rich 16yr old and your parents are buying you a car and insurance then get what u want, but if you're getting any of those your insurance will be close to 1k per month and will have to pay that if not more (determines any speeding tickets and wrecks) until you're 21-25, so that's a big hardship. You are 16 and you should feel just lucky to even receive a car, cars by any year or make are luxury items as they are not a necessity, so if your parents get you an old ford focus just be happy! You just gotta save up for what you truly want. I myself have worked since I was 13 years old and now that I'm 25 I have a house, own a nodded Lincoln LS and am about to get a G37x, so really you should just be proud of your accomplishments, after all...... There will always be someone with a cooler, faster, or better car than you.......always

Oh, to be young again... Buy a 1991 Toyota Celica and you'll be the happiest kid ever! I know I was!

Honestly, these are a lot of car for being 16. I know you said you have driving experience but nothing will compared to being out on your own distracted by a car full of friends. I am not sure of you budget or exactly what you are going for but those 4 are all quite different cars. To be honest with you, and really this is not to be bias in any way, but I would say focus on the G sedan if it is within your budget. It is a vehicle full of class and it is very safe. I emphatically think it is your best choice and you will be happy you made it later but you are very young. It's hard to know what you want or even who you are yet. Biggest thing is to be careful and always respect the responsibility of others on the road and those in your car.

Wish you the best bud, don't say I didn't tell you so when you are kicking yourself in the a$$ for not getting that 91 Celica!

Welcome to the forum Andrew. I think you should get less car so that you and your friends that will be with you don't end up dead in a ditch somewhere from the mix of inexperience and kids being kids in fast cars. Get whichever you like but please don't believe this because it's simply not true and you won't know it until you have more experience:
i probably am the best 16 year old driver there is considering all my experience over the years in any car u can imagine in any kind of weather
And keep in mind the best 16 year old driver there is is kind of like being the fastest runner in the world with one leg. It doesn't mean much.

Best of luck, and be safe. I'd take the CTS-V.

Best of luck if you do end up getting a G though if there's any big G meets and me and you end up there I will know for sure not to buy you a beer, at least for 5 more years

Also, save for any future repairs. My Lincoln LS needed a new engine only 3 months after I bought it and cost me 5k out of pocket (was 10k and aftermarket warranty covered the rest)

The G is a very fun car, but make sure you dont turn traction control off! Still a lot of car for a 16 year old.. just be safe, most of the kids in my area who get powerful rwd cars end up crashing it within the first 2 months.
